Re: How would the history of CFB have changed if..........?
... if OSU didn't blow their collective wads against Michigan State in 1998.
That was a great team... outside of the loss to MSU (and we were up by 2 TD's at 1 point), we won every regular season game by at least 15 points, including:
@ #11 West Virginia by 17
#21 Missouri by 21
#7 Penn State by 19
#11 Michigan by 15
If we didn't choke that game away, then I'd be willing to bet there might be a 98 in my sig. Granted, there probably wouldn't be a 2002 if that were the case lol.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: How would the history of CFB have changed if..........?
....If Bear Bryant had retired a couple years earlier and Pat Dye became coach of 'Bama?
Obviously Bryant wouldn't have become the all-time leader in wins but on the flip side it would lead to continuity for the program instead of having to go with Ray Perkins. Having Dye in Tuscaloosa would mean that Bama may have ended with Bo Jackson!
This isn't just some flight of fancy from me as I was watching the '82 Iron Bowl a while ago and before the game they were talking about how Bryant didn't want Dye to leave and was even willing to offer up the head coaching job but Dye wanted to be a head coach badly and took the Auburn job.
Dye probably would've stayed at Bama for as long or even longer than he did with Auburn and be a valid successor to Bryant.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

...If Reggie Bush had been suspended prior to the UCLA game in 2004?
...If SMU had played a half-season in 1988 instead of extending their death penalty?

Re: How would the history of CFB have changed if..........?
I remember when they were doing this on ESPN a while back and it got me to thinking.
What if Miami would've dumped their football program in the late 70's ?? I believe too many things would be affected.Comment

What if Michael Trabtree didn't leave for the NFL until this past April, when he would have just finished his Senior season?
What would happen if the NCAA never came down on SMU in the late 80's?
What if the refs called Bush on pushing Leinart? (Leinert? Lienart?)Last edited by WinMINTwins; 08-09-2011, 01:29 PM.Minnesota Twins

Roll Left: Texas was a 21 point underdog eventhough they started Priest Holmes & Ricky Williams. Huskers would have 4 peted
Osborne goes for 2: Do the Hurricanes become a national power if Nebraska wins?

Homer what-if
...If Michael Bush doesn't break his leg in the 3rd quarter against UK in the first game of the season
-Louisville probably doesn't lose to Rutgers and goes undefeated.
-Possible chance at a national championship
-If given the chance to play in, a championship in football.
-Maybe Petrino doesn't leave and Louisville doesn't suffer three consecutive years of ineptitude.
-Louisville is then a top 10 power every year.

Re: How would the history of CFB have changed if..........?
Here's my two 'what if's':
1. What if Nebraska makes the last second field goal in in the '93 title game against FSU? Do they still win the '94, '95 and '97 championships?
2. What if, after winning the '94 and '95 championships, Texas doesn't completely shock the world in beating Nebraska in the inaugural Big XII Championship game? Nebraska would have played for the title yet again. Looking at this one alone Nebraska would have likely played in 5 straight title games and possibly won four of them. If you combine it with the first one, that is a potential 5 straight national titles.Comment
