What if the polls never went to post-bowl final voting in the mid 60s and mid 70s?

Of all the things that have negatively impacted the game, post-bowl polling is up there as one of the worst...even if it took nearly 20 years for it to break the game down.

Not changing sig until Florida gets their 2nd road win outside the South since 1965 (first was Rutgers in 1986) 9/28/10

1.) If Sam Cunningham and USC didn't beat Alabama 42-21 at Legion Field in 1970. Would have integration happened as quickly in the SEC? I think he had 13 carries for a 120 yards, just nuts.

2.) Vinny Testerverde doesn't throw 5 picks in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl

3.) UNC wins the classic versus Clemson in 1981.

4.) Rocket Ishmel doesn't have the punt return for a TD called back against Colorado in the Orange Bowl. Also, 5th Down for Colorado versus Mizzou (I believe) never happens.

5.) Steve Spurrier stayed at Duke. Would they maybe have competed for a NC?

6.) If Sir Parker hadn't taken the slant pattern to the house in the 1998 Big XII championship game. Would K-State have a title now?

7.) If Knute Rockne and Howard Jones spouses weren't friends. Would the Notre Dame/USC game have happened?

How is that a bad thing?

Otherwise you have a scenario like the 1964 season, where Alabama was awarded the NC despite losing the Orange Bowl because voting took place before the bowls.

If UCLA plays Miami in September 1998, as scheduled, instead of November due to a hurricane, we could be looking at UCLA being the first bCS National Champion.

Not sure the defense was NC caliber, since they got gashed to hell by Miami (w/ Edgerrin James) and Wisconsin (w/ Ron Dayne) in the Rose Bowl, but that offense certainly was.
