Nation's top long snapper prospect from Georgia, Bryce Haynes, commits to Ohio State.
Scholarship to a LS? Senator, I am disappoint.
You must not have a clue how important that is....
ST is really important. See 2011 Sugar BowlComment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
When you are an All-American at your position and a big time programs long snapper is graduating, you offer him...
The NFL has less people on its roster than college teams and they always have a spot for 1 legitimate long snapper. If an NFL team can "waste" a spot for a LS, then a top college program should as well. (and alot of the top college coaches realize this...)
Great offer by tOSU (esp. when the commitment does not take up a spot for another player in the recruiting class...)Comment

Nobody in the history of football has ever been excited for their team getting a long snapper. And if he was offered a scholarship it most certainly does take a spot from another player in the class.Comment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
Bro, I've only heard of a long snapper being offered a scholarship once. It was Tommy Tuberville in 2008. He was fired the next season for horrible crootin.

It's not like our fanbase is going "ZOMG WE LANDED BRYCE HAYNES #1 CLASS FO SHO!". We just graduated a very good long snapper in Jake McQuaide, and landed the nation's top long snapper to fill his shoes for the next four years. Considering how important special teams are, I'm all for offering a scholarship to a longsnapper.
Anyways, players still on the board for OSU:
5* LB and #2 player in the nation Curtis Grant
4* WR JaJuan Story (Likely UF bound IMO)
4* OL Audrey Walker (From Glenville... you do the math)
4* WR Darius Jennings (Likely non-OSU bound)
3* QB Cardale Jones is quite the interesting case. Offers from LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, and Iowa among others, is choosing between a grayshirt from OSU and schollie at Toledo. Grades are a factor in this case, I belive.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
Actually it doesnt. OSU will still accept commits from Grant, and Walker. ( I think Sotry is headed to FLA and Cardale will greyshirt/jucoComment

I think I agree with you here about Story and Grant. I really hope we land Grant though. That would be huge!!"Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

Since Cebby says it, it must be right.

I'm not sure Cardale ever had a firm offer from Michigan. His recruitment under RR was off and on, and his name hasn't come up once since Hoke was hired.Comment

Unless you're going back to the old scholarship rules giving a scholarship to one player means another won't get a scholarship.Comment
