Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
Apparently, Brent Calloway's dad is pulling a "Trovon Reed" on Brent. I.e. pushing as hard as he can at Brent going back to Bammer. Pretty sad stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if Calloway switched back to appease daddy.
Also feeling pretty good about Big Cy being an Auburn Tiger tomorrow morning. An O line of Westerman, Cyrus, Dismukes, O'Reilly, and Robinson would be ludicrous.
The deal with Roberson was pretty typical. Stud athlete who is "wishy washy" and does the "I'm committed but I'm looking around". Apparently, Chiz and Co. aren't playing around and said "no thanks Marcus, we'll be moving on."
As Auburntigersfan said....expect Marcus Roberson to replaced by 4 star DB Jermaine Whitehead.
Auburn should grab DT Gabe Wright and S Erique Florence tomorrow on ESPN.WUSTLComment

Haha. I am not even expecting any more commitments. I am pretty content with a ranking near the top 40 like we have now. When Golden took over and had two commitments, I didn't think he would get us even this high.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Its pretty sad that a father wants his son to honor his commitment or at least inform people ahead of time instead of trying to show them up on national tv.[sarcasm]Comment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
What was pretty sad was Auburn getting the kid to decommit on national tv without the dad knowing about it or telling anybody at Alabama.

If anything I'd say it would be more sad for a father to not allow for his child to go a school where he wanted to go, and had earned a scholarship at than for a father to let his son break a non binding commitment.
I don't know exactly how it went down, but if Brent really wants to go to Auburn, and Brent has earned a full scholarship to attend school there it's pretty sad of his parents to not allow him to there.WUSTLComment

Yes, the Auburn coaches told Calloway to commit to Auburn on national television without consulting his guardian or the bammer coaches.

Brent Calloway likes Auburn, but his father thinks he should honor his original commitment to Alabama.
Also was it sad to you when Cecil Newton decided Cam should go to Auburn when many thought he really wanted to go to MSU.
Here's one quote from the article. "He won't interfere with his son's decision, although he will continue to speak his mind and did so Friday night in a family discussion. He just wishes he had been included at the end as he was at the start. Calloway's announcement on NBC during the broadcast of the Army game caught the father off guard.

Brent fell victim to the playing time line from Auburn. Simple as that.Twitter

Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread
3/4* QB DeMarcus Smith appears to be heading to Central Florida. Sources say the chances are 50/50 right now, but UCF has been making a buzz today that Smith is going to commit to them tomorrow.
Obviously Smith has not said anything.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Read this article to see if it sounds like he is a bad parent.

I have read that article before, and truthfully it probably isn't the best parenting to be doing interviews about your son's commitment for newspapers, so in my opinion that article does tell a little about peaches. Also, if peaches had any other reasons for Calloway to commit to bama other than to honor his previous non-binding commitment it isn't like he is going to tell that to the paper.
Also, this is not even comparable to Cam's situation at all. Brent is a normal high profile recruit needing to decide between schools, peaches is his guardian of three years.
Cam was Junior College recruit who had already made some mistakes and need to get his life on track, Cecil Newton was his father of 21 years. Cam had made some mistakes and decided that he needed to listen to his father's guidance at that point in his life.Last edited by auburntigersfan; 02-01-2011, 09:08 PM.WUSTLComment
