    Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread

DePriest needs to commit to Alabama after this weekend.

Having the LB class of DePriest and Calloway would just be unfair.

I know Wilder is being recruited as a running back, but even he admits he's probably a better linebacker. Adding him along with those two would really be something.

        Redshirted. That's. about. it.

The old "violation of team rules" aka not going to class, weed, etc. Who knows. Don't really care. He's gone.

Does anyone really know why Calloway is getting all this love? I saw him play a few times last year, and I thought he was good, but I would have thought a 5 star would have been a lot better. He was good as a runningback, but he didn't impress me as a LB. I will have to check him out at more Russelville games this year.

Also USF is not doing a big job trying to bring him in. Jeff Brinson wanted to also transfer to USF and they didnt allow it so he is now at UCF.
It's been speculated that he violated a team rule, knew he was gonna get kicked out so tried to transfer; Auburn coaches weren't having it, so they rejected the transfer and kicked him off for the violation.

He would've been nice for us to have for depth this year, we're kinda thin at runningback now.

Actually..we're in the exact same depth position as we were last year.

We had Ben Tate and No Aycock (redshirting).

Now we add Dyer and No Aycock (transferring).

Never really had any issues with RB depth last year.

Eric Smith, Michael Dyer, Mario Fannin, Onterrio McCalebb, and LaDarius Phillips. Plus Terrell "King of the End Around" Zachary and Trovon Reed I'm sure will get touches on WR sweeps and end arounds.

Should be ok barring a rash of injuries.

I guess I didn't really factor in McCalebb, hopefully he can stay healthy throughout this year. Last year Fannin wasn't playing runningback, though, and neither was Eric Smith. I still don't think Smith is playing runningback, although we all know he could easily be subbed in at that position.

Hopefully Dyer will step in and make an immediate impact as we are hoping.

Fannin was used everywhere. Smith is playing running back...we have a two back system. We don't have a "true FB" more of 2 tailbacks with one utilized in more of a TE/FB role like Smith was. He can carry the rock.

Regardless...I expect a typical 3 back rotation with Fannin the starter, followed by some combo of Dyer/McCalebb.

I think you're describing the H-Back, both Fannin and Smith played that position last year. H-Back does some blocking and some receiving, I believe Fannin did mostly receiving out of that position, though.

I believe he H-Back position lines up in many different positions in Malzahn's offense and does many different things. Hopefully Lutz can do some stuff in that position this year.

Now if Miller can get his buddy DePriest to go along with him. A lot of time for them 2 to talk to each other.

                            lol @ Psy. You're right.

Miami gets verbals from Miami Northwestern QB Teddy Bridgewater and WR Eli Rogers.

Damn, I haven't put recruit news up in so long, I forgot how I did it.
