Bellotti, Richt get early looks for CU coaching job - The Denver Post

My guess is they presume Richt is out at Georgia, no way he'd take a pay cut to leave Georgia for CU.

Bellotti withdraws his name from CU job. Probably waiting for a better job.

Ball State fired Stan Parrish after their last game, and Kent State coach Doug Martin is resigning after the game against Ohio today.

Stan Parrish is going to have one of the worst records in 1-A history. He was one of the coaches of Kansas State during their epicly bad years, and didn't do a whole lot better in his 2 years at Ball State.

He was also ousted from Michigan too.

To be fair, Parrish was 42-3-1 at a lower division school, then 13-8-1 in 1-AA.

As a 1-A coach, he's 8-49-1 and half those 8 wins came this season.

As for Michigan...it's fairly impressive if you're Lloyd Carr's OC and he thinks you're bad at it.

They just said during the Kentucky @ Tennessee game that Vandy coach Bobby Caldwell has resigned effective after their season finale against Wake Forest.

I don't get it. Caldwell said he had a multi-year deal earlier in the season when people were asking about whether he was the interim or permanent coach.

IDK, sounds like it was a mutual agreement with both sides saying that it was in the best interest of the univeristy. Here's the article from espn.com

Well, an SEC job is open. Granted, the worst one. But it will be interesting to see how hard they go after Gus Malzahn and how much he actually listens.

How desired is the Vanderbilt job? It may be an SEC job, but it seems like a position that is impossible to succeed in.

It's not impossible but it's tough. They are at a big disadvantage compared to all 11 teams in the conference...but...

If you were to take Vandy to a 9 or 10 win season, you could get most any job you wanted. If you lose, no one blames you because it's Vandy. Coaches all think they can do it.

                                Not desirable at all.

                                Mistake and Vandy are incomparable.

Vandy hasn't ended a season ranked since 1948, has been to one bowl since 1982 (and it was the Music City Bowl), and has finished with a winning record once since 1982 (and that was 7-6).

Mistake is an awful program but it's been ranked 9 times in the last 47 years (with a possible 10th time this year) and will have been to 8 bowls since 1991.

A good coach can easily use Mistake as a stepping stone. Vandy is a dead end job period. They don't have an athletic department and their offered salary won't be competitive with any other program. They won't get a top coordinator, they'll get a "seriously you're offering me a head coaching position?" candidate.
