I don't see them going 6-2 in the B10, I think 3-5 wins is most likely. Not to mention Illinois loses most of their key players off last year's squad. They were a very inconsistent team who was up and down all year and I don't think that'll get any better losing guys like Leshoure, Liguiet, Wilson, Bussey etc.

Sheelhasse looks like he has the potential to be a good one, but he'll have to show a lot of growth for them to reach the levels you predict.

I'll give you the schedule part of why Nebraska may not win the B1G Legends. It is considerably tougher than what they had to face last year.

But I'm giving Martinez the BotD for his performance towards the end of the year (primarily the Texas and any game after Missouri). He was a freshman (RS) last year and inexperience always tends to come out in some negative form (a la Texas game, first "big" game against a tough D). Same thing goes with the Texas A&M game and the Oklahoma (conference championship game)

He will be better this year in the face of pressure. Plus with the new OC maybe we'll call some better plays

Can't wait to play Iowa. Farmageddon!

Well, Illinois doesn't play Nebraska, Iowa or Michigan State which is a pretty nice deal. I see them losing to Wisconsin but who else? Michigan's at home, they have to deal with Penn State and Purdue on the road. I really see them having a great shot at 6-2 in conference.

I didn't know about the road team faring so well in that rivalry but I would just have to assume it's an anomaly and the home team still enjoys an advantage.

I don't see it, at all, but then again these are just predictions for all we know Indiana could win the conference.

I see 3-5 wins in conference being likely for Illinois.

I don't trust Illinois or Ron Zook enough to predict them going 6-2 in conference. Illinois is just too inconsistent for them to win 6 games in conference. I seem them losing to Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Michigan and Northwestern games are a toss up. I think they will win at least 3 games but no more then 4 in conference.

I know they have Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan at home but Illinois is not good at home in Big Ten play. Since 2004 they are 8-19 at home vs conference opponents.

Ooh, that's a good one too.

In all seriousness, that Nebraska - Iowa game may just shape up to be the legends division championship but the conference seems as up for grabs as it's ever been.

I don't mean to sound like a homer but why is NO ONE counting on Iowa to do anything this year? Yes, yes, many question marks and last year lined to be a monster year and we fell flat. So, that could happen this year but that is the thing with Iowa, you can never count them out. Anything less than 3rd in the division is crazy. And stop with this Nebraska non sense. If so many of you believe in Sparty, why all of this Nebby auto lock in crap?

I really don't want to come off as butthurt of a homer, I really don't expect too much from Iowa this year. 7-5, 8-4, maaaaybe 9-3. But this Nebraska love is just upsetting to me.

And the Big Ten is not down as a whole. Not the strongest it's been recently, but not 5th out of 6.

That's pretty much how you came off.

Why love for Nebraska? Simply put, on paper, not too many teams look better than them

Why no love Iowa? Iowa has always struck me as a complacent team that will surprise you once every 3 or so years. What I mean by that, they'll win at least 7-9 games a year and be average-above average, then they'll break out for a BCS game and the next year go back to 7-9 wins.

It doesn't even sound like you are counting on Iowa much this year. You said it yourself, they have many question marks and you don't expect too much from them.

I think it's that you don't like Nebraska and you hate to see people picking them to finish ahead of Iowa.

Nebraska on paper, looks much better then Iowa does. Iowa may very well finish ahead of Nebraska, but looking at this unbiased I will take Nebraska over Iowa. You come off as butthurt when you say "stop with this Nebraska nonsense." What nonsense? Do you really think Nebraska can't contend for the Big Ten?

It's pretty bad. I really don't like the look of the conference overall. We're definitely not better than 4th, and I actually think the ACC is probably ahead of us now as there's a good chance both FSU and Va. Tech could be better than any team in the Big Ten.

In any case, here's my thoughts (homerism included):

                            Legends
                            1. Nebraska
                            2. Michigan
                            3. Michigan State
                            4. Iowa
                            5. Northwestern
                            6. Minnesota

                            Leaders
                            1. Wisconsin
                            2. Ohio State
                            3. Penn State
                            4. Purdue
                            5. Indiana
                            6. Illinois

With Wisconsin winning the title game.

The only reason I'm all high on Iowa is because of years like last year. We all know as fans of college sports, you can never really be TOO optimistic.

Yeah I re read my post and I was being a little crybaby, my apologies.

And the reason I call this Nebraska hype nonsense is simply because I don't think they can make it to the title game. Yes they are talented, especially on paper. More talented than half of the Big Ten, but this is a new league that plays entirely different football then they are accustomed to. Someone brought up Penn State when they entered the Big Ten. An elite program expected to roll their first year and didn't.

But then again I just thought about it and our division is pretty lousy this year. Maybe they will make. Michigan State, Michigan and Iowa are the only real threats they have.

All of my hate aside, I have always said CFB isn't the same when Nebraska is down and I really do hope they succeed. (Just not on the Friday after thanksgiving!)

And yes, Bucky wins it all this year. Bottom line.

I'm not going to qoute whole thing, but Nebraska ready plays big10/12ten football and I daresay they always have outside of the Callahan era. They've always been smashmouth offense with strong defense.
