Mike Slive announces SEC has no plans to add 14th team until 2013 at the earliest.

Some blog claims BYU has an offer from the Big 12.

Greg Swaim (Big Time Sports) also claiming Louisville has Big 12 invite as well.

Gotta think one of them is wrong (as usual). I personally would be very surprised to see the Big 12 go beyond 10 teams right now. It'll be a year or two before they get back to 12 (which will happen, I believe). BYU and Louisville both great targets and much better than the TCUs and Air Forces that have been mentioned in passing. Would love to have both and ideally West Virginia as team #12.

The only way the Big 12-3 goes back to 12 is if Texas wants it to, and I don't think that they do. Texas & OU both would prefer not to have to play in a CCG. However, if the conference is going to survive long term, they will need to get back to 12 before the renegotiation of their 1st tier rights. They will need a CCG as part of that package to be able to get close to the money that the PAC, SEC & B1G are getting.

The Big East has WVU, TCU, South Florida, Louisville, Cincinnati, Rutgers and UConn as football members. Navy and Air Force have been invited - and have accepted, pending knowing what they're getting into and with whom - as football-only members. The hope is Army would follow.

(Gee, the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy could then be renamed the Marinatto Cup.)

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why do schools does this? I hate when a school is in different conferences for different sports.

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I mean, is Kentucky just supposed to drop their soccer program because the SEC doesn't sponsor soccer? Or should Miami University drop hockey because the MAC doesn't sponsor it? What about Villanova, Georgetown, etc... who are in the Big East for basketball but in the CAA and other FCS conferences for football?

What's dumb about Air Force in the MWC for non-football? Travel is too $$$ for non-football in the Big Est, and it gives a boost to their football prestige. And what should independent schools do then? Be independent for '****** bob sleding'? Or find conference? (BYU- WCC) (Army Navy- Patriot League) (ND- Big East)

Temple used to be a football-only member of the Big East until they were kicked out in 2004.

Air Force wouldn't be able to keep their other sports in another FBS conference if they move football to another FBS conference per NCAA rules. Basically if they play football in the Big East, they can't keep the Olympic Sports in the MWC, they would have to move them to another D-1 conference that doesn't participate in the FBS. An example would be like the Big Sky or WCC, I don't see them losing the MWC connection.
