Rivalries in Jeopardy in the SEC
Would be an absolute shame if UGA/AU and/or UT/UA no longer play every single year due to conference re-alignment.Comment

Re: Rivalries in Jeopardy in the SEC
You aren't giving up a home game though. You're giving up half a home game, if that. The Pac 12 plays 9 conference games, and Oregon actually played more home games (7) than LSU (6). In a 9-game conference schedule, you're playing either 5 or 4 home games in conference, and if you play 2 of your 3 non-conference games at home (as is the norm for big time college football teams), then you're talking 6 or 7 home games a year. That's plenty.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Rivalries are bound to be broken up in this whole re-alignment mess. Then again, it seems like every SEC team claims every other SEC team as a rival. When (and I say when because it seems inevitable) the SEC moves to sixteen teams, people are going to be upset over four divisions, but it's going to make for better football.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The questions remains : What would happen to the MCCG? If you have 4 divisions, how would it work? Would all 4 SEC division winners directly qualify for the national playoff? Lets say a 2nd place team in one of the divisions has a better conference or overall record than one of the 1st place division winners? would that team also qualify for a national playoff? If that were the case then you'd have potentially 5 or 6 SEC teams directly qualifying for a playoff. Or would you have a playoff to determine the conference champion before the national playoff? that would take multiple weeks since you have more than 2 divisions. these are important questions because if there is going to be a playoff then getting the details correct would be key. if you have 5 or 6 SEC teams in a playoff, then would other conferences add teams to get to 16 and get 4 automatic births in the same way as we seen conferences adding teams to get to 12 and get a MCCG?Comment

It appears to be done. WVU will be a Big 12 member effective July 1st, 2012.

The two rivalries in the article I posted have been playing since 1892 (AU/UGA) and 1901 (UA/UT). They are two of the most hated and long standing rivalries in college football.Comment
