Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Truth is, Missouri is about on par with Arkansas or South Carolina. And there is nothing wrong with that. Missouri isn't going to tumble to the bottom of the conference. They're in the east, and that's a very winnable division - is it really outlandish to think they could be better than Georgia? Florida hasn't been good since Tebow moved on. Tennessee has been disappointing for a while now. Kentucky and Vandy aren't all that good. So that leaves Georgia and USC, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Missouri is better than those teams.Comment

Plus, look at that Big 12 list. One of the worst performing teams, Baylor, was pretty damn good last year. Kansas won an Orange Bowl in that timeframe. The Big 12 has been just as tough as the SEC over the past few years.
Agree with you, Mizzou is going to be about the same team they have been.Last edited by rspencer86; 02-14-2012, 01:39 PM.Ryan Spencer

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
A disaster for who? Definitely not the schools involved.
How are Conference USA and the Mountain West conference doing so far on their own?
How about the Western Athletic Conference?
Aren't people screaming for a playoff system in college football? Well, outside of FCS there isn't one. Now, in this conference there will be one.
As long as it's not called the LEGENDS or the LEADERS the conference should be a hit within it's own boundaries.
San Jose State
Fresno State
Hawaii
Nevada
UNLV
Utah State
That'd be a pretty competitive division of football. Same recruiting area, hopefully new TV deal (Mountain West tv deal SUCKS) ....
It's a win for the schools involved.Fulham FC...Showin' em love.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
LOL. Their football program hasn't done anything consistently the past 20 years. You're right.
But just saying "they are nothing special" is short sighted. They've BEEN nothing special, true, but you've got to crawl before you can walk. The San Jose area "should" be a great spot for a local college school to recruit from, but for whatever reason their President, their AD and their coach didn't appear to be on the right page.
The next season will determine where the Spartans are headed a lot more than your valid opinion of the program. Wins over Army and Fresno State should help move the program forward. Continuing to win will be the real key.
Boise State use to be nothing special either, until their school decided they wanted better. Hell, Boise State was an FCS school less than 20 years ago.
Lightening can most definitely strike again. Oklahoma State would still suck if the culture hadn't changed and an influx of $$$ hadn't come in.Fulham FC...Showin' em love.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The structure of the new conference will likely include:
Membership of 18 to 24 universities
National scope from the Atlantic Seaboard to Hawaii
Championship football game format that includes semifinal match-ups
Championship basketball tournament
Regular season scheduling in divisions
NCAA FBS affiliation
Mechanisms to emphasize and improve academic standards and fiscal responsibility
The presidents and chancellors will have follow-up meetings over the next six months to fully develop the operational issues essential to the formation of the association.
Hope San Jose State gets a seat at the table.
Good times aplenty for the also rans. 4 team conference playoff. Yum.
Hope this option is built into NCAA 13.
That would be so awesome if we could start forming our conferences into four division with a playoff in NCAA 13. I hope they were kept in the loop.Comment
