Yeah, just saw that. And as TDenver said below, most logical move of this realignment shenanigans yet.

More logical than adding teams from the west coast to a conference called the Big EAST. Besides, Temple seems to be on the rise and it would bring the Philadelphia market.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Why are people still hung up on the name. The American League has a Canadian team, the Canadian Hockey League seems to love Washington and the Pacific Northwest, the English Premier League has a Welsh team. It's just a name guys...Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Tammy (and Nebraska, for that matter) voted for unequal sharing every time it came up (except 1 or 2 arbitrary votes on the way out of the conference). Neither team could put a good enough product on the field to take advantage... so that is somehow Texas' fault. Maybe if Tamu was more than a .500 team all-time in big12 play, and maybe if Nebraska didnt run their program into the ground... they both could have made more money and wouldnt have had to lift their skirt to another conference to make themselves feel better. It is hard to fault nebraska though, as they seem to be a very good fit in the Big10.
Oh by the way the Big12 now has equal sharing (chosen by vote. just like the previous unequal revenue sharing was always decided by vote).
Anyways, its a step forward in helping the "have-nots" pull in more revenue and lessen the disparity of resources compared to the others in the conference. For the best Tecmo Bowl & R.B.I. Baseball strategy & analysis on the web...go to TecmoBowl-vs-RBI.com

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
But the SEC is sooo tough. Every weak is so tough. There aren't any weak teams except for Mississippi, Miss St, Vandy, Kentucky, and Tennessee....
Truth is, Missouri is about on par with Arkansas or South Carolina. And there is nothing wrong with that. Missouri isn't going to tumble to the bottom of the conference. They're in the east, and that's a very winnable division - is it really outlandish to think they could be better than Georgia? Florida hasn't been good since Tebow moved on. Tennessee has been disappointing for a while now. Kentucky and Vandy aren't all that good. So that leaves Georgia and USC, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Missouri is better than those teams.
Florida beat writers who know a helluva lot more about the Gators than I do have said 2011 was the worst gator team in decades. Decades! They have some serious work to do. Hard to say what Tennessee is capable of, but probably not leaps and bounds better. Good chance the East still has some problems next year, and its ripe for some Mizzou success.
Mizzou has proved it's an established program now and could replace great offensive talent when Gabbert and Danario Alexander stepped in for Daniel and Maclin. Franklin really found his way late in the year at QB as well. What people may not realize is that Mizzou has produced a 1st round draft pick on defense over the last 3 years. That side of the ball has been getting lots of notoriety in the conference the last few years.
There's a sentiment that Mizzou's Texas pipeline of recruits is about to dry up, but I'm not sold on that line of thinking either. Pinkel has been building relationships in that region with high school coaches for 10 years now, and he's putting guys in the NFL. I got a harrowing suspicion that Texas kids will continue to be steered towards what Mizzou can offer them. For the best Tecmo Bowl & R.B.I. Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Actually I don't believe its 100% equal sharing just yet. From what I remember the big 12 is now set up to equally distribute something like 76% of the money. The rest still leans heavily based on TV appearances...which isnt as bad as 5 years ago since most every Big 12 game is now televised. Previously the conference only equally shared like 65% or something like that.
Anyways, its a step forward in helping the "have-nots" pull in more revenue and lessen the disparity of resources compared to the others in the conference.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Looking at next year's SEC schedule, I think worst case scenario is 3-5. They get Kentucky and Vandy at home, and I think Missouri is much, much better than Tennessee. That's 3 wins if they don't win any other conference game. Of the remaining 5, 4 are winnable (home vs. UGA, at Florida, USC, A&M). Heck, even the Bama game, at home, is winnable. It'd be an upset, but would it really blow anyone's mind to see Bama lose a road conference game in October to a good team? Honestly, a 7-1 conference record this year (and a trip to the SEC Title game) doesn't seem outlandish to me at all.Comment

Expected to be a press conference in New York later this afternoon during a break in Big East tournament action to announce Temple will join the conference for football in 2012 and all sports in 2013.
Temple football will begin play in the Big East this upcoming season, a source confirmed Wednesday to ESPN's Joe Schad.
The Owls will join the conference in all other sports in 2013, another source said.
The Big East is planning to hold a news conference later Wednesday during a break in the men's basketball tournament action at Madison Square Garden.
The football program played in the Mid-American Conference last season, while all other Temple programs, including men's basketball, are in the Atlantic 10.
