Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
The owner of AggieYell.com has said that he's heard talk about that already (Duke and UNC to the SEC). He said that he was surprised when the ACC teams that he originally thought of - VaTech, Clemson, and Florida State - were not mentioned as viable candidates for the SEC. This was in an interview on Des Moines' ESPN Radio this afternoon.
Also in response to fsquid, yeah I admit I was wrong, I just didn't think Aggy's hate for UT would drive them to do something so rash.
Clearly I underestimated Aggy's hate for UT.

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
The Big East needs to get on the Phone right now and extend offers, I think it is possible that they come out of this stronger than the ACC. If the NBC rumors are true, there will be no BE to ACC defections. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
It's a new market for the SEC and if you're Mizzou, the only way you can possibly turn it down is if you're 100% sure the Big Ten is going to invite you when the Big 12-3 blows up, which is apparently going to be very soon.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Missouri to the SEC actually makes a lot of sense because of the St. Louis and Kansas City markets (actually, I'm not sure about Kansas City. I have a friend from there that says Missouri is the big name there, so I'm taking her word for it.) It also makes sense because Missouri is the university that started this flirting with other conferences business. You can't go half way and then get weak kneed.
If it's true about 16 teams, I wonder how divisions will be set up then. Should be interesting to watch.
EDIT: I wonder if they will start doing like the AFC and NFC if they do go to sixteen teams. WARNING: The spoiler tags include rambling and random guessing. Enter at your own risk...

WESTERN DIVISION
Arkansas
Louisiana State
Missouri
Texas A&M
CENTRAL DIVISION
Alabama
Auburn
Mississippi
Mississippi State
ATLANTIC DIVISION
Florida

South Carolina
NORTHER DIVISION

A team plays their own division every year plus teams from another division on a rotating schedule. That makes for seven games, and for the two other games you would play one team from each division that you're not playing who finished in the same position as your team did the year before.
For example, let's say that for year one, Texas A&M finishes in second place, and that the Western Division plays the Atlantic Division in this rotation. That means that they would play their divisional opponents (Louisiana State, Arkansas, and Missouri), the teams from the Atlantic Division (Georgia, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina), and two teams from the Divisions that they are not playing in full who finished in the same position as they did in the previous year (let's say that Mississippi and Clemson finished in second, so A&M would play them). Like I said, it would provide variety, and it would be like the conferences in the NFL. It would screw with some rivalries, but that's to be expected in a conference like this. It would also provide three out of conference games (Texas and two others).

I guess I need to accept a major shakeup is coming, but the thought of not being in with Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma, etc. just sucks. I'm a big fan of the history part of it.Ryan Spencer

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
And yet, that wasn't enough. They are still going to defect and in the process kill off 2 longtime rivalry game (Tech and Baylor) and possibly even the TU rivalry game.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with you, but I think it is fueled by contempt for TU. They say it's for other reasons, but I'm frankly not buying it.
The "new army" loves this move, but for an "old army" guy like myself, it is sad.Last edited by Aggies67; 08-13-2011, 10:58 AM.Comment

The winners of each division go into a 4team playoffs for the conference championship game.Last edited by Kobalt; 08-13-2011, 11:01 AM.Comment
