And UVA. I think they need 6 member to get an auto-bid to the tourney, though all 5 of those teams are very good.

Damn I'm good. Months ago I was tellin my dad and uncle this was gonna happen, made too much sense. Now Hopkins and Maryland have that rivalry, and Ohio St has become a regular contender. At least Maryland may be able to be at the top of something in the B1G lol. So who's the 6th team gonna be? Right now I can only think of Maryland, Hopkins, Ohio St, Rutgers, and Michigan. Who am I missing?

edit: to answer my own question, it's Penn St. Duh. They used to play in CAA with Towson. pretty damn good lineup for this conference.

      Maryland
      Hopkins
      Ohio State
      Penn State
      Rutgers
      Michigan

Good mix of traditional powers and new contenders.

So apparently UMass got kicked out of the MAC, effective after the 2015 season.

I've seen some speculation about Big 12 expansion due to them not having a conference championship game, and I have seen 2 names mentioned: NIU and Rutgers. NIU brings in the Chicago market and they have dominated the MAC in recent seasons, while Rutgers are already in a power conference and played well there. Thoughts?

BYU is an obvious choice since they're Independent and have a national following for religious reasons and are a quality program. Cincinnati is a decent second option. Boise State might geographically be a little out there, but it's worth considering.

Northern Illinois does not bring in the Chicago market. Northern Illinois plays in front of about 4,000 people with about 9,000 people watching. Chicago does not care about Northern Illinois. They barely care about Illinois. They care more about Notre Dame.

I think the Houston Cougars should go to the Big XII. They have a history with Texas, Baylor, TCU etc.

Cincinnati would be alright, still not sold on Memphis. Boise St. and BYU would also be picks for me as well.

If they want to go get the two best teams they get BYU and Boise, we'll see where they go, but after this, I think they go to 12 next season.

Memphis and Cincinnati improve their basketball strength, and Cincinnati has had some success on the football field. Plus adding these two teams gives WVU a travel partner.

BYU is definitely my first choice. My second team would be Cincinnati, though Boise State would also be nice, though I'm not sure that's realistic. Memphis would be okay, I guess, but I feel like we'd just be diluting the conference to get to 12 teams at that point.

Only if they want Denver market. However, I doubt they'd want Colorado State because they have lack of great success sports.

Texas would never allow Houston to join which will be same thing for SMU, UTSA, UTEP ,and other Texas schools.

Right now, they need East/North since they already load of West/South.

Cincinnati and Memphis are probably top choice because of WVU while Memphis-Kansas BB rivalry. East Carolina, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UCF, South Florida, or Arkansas State would be nice options for Big 12.

If they go for west, San Diego State and Boise State would be their top choice. UNLV, Colorado State, New Mexico, or Fresno State are other options. Air Force has no intention to join Big 12 while Big 12 doesn't want to do anything with BYU's Sunday policy.

Do you remember the rumor that Florida State and Clemson were considered to join Big 12 ?. I can image they might reconsider such move because of Carolina bias.

It's not about the sports history or tradition, it's about money. My money would be on Brigham Young (rich Mormon history that plays well around the nation) and either Cincinnati, Colorado State, or Memphis (large markets although none of the teams really excite).

CSU has a very minimal market in Denver as it is primarily CU.
