I'm just saying... there was less than zero chance that Arky was going to say "yeah, screw the SEC, I want to be a part of this completely unstable circus of a league that is the Big 12."Ryan Spencer

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
West Virginia AD Oliver Luck is throwing around the idea of a Big East/Big 12 merger. The Big East can't feel good about superconferences, either, although WVU is in a good spot and will likely end up in a super-SEC or super-ACC.
In the end (as I have said many times) I feel that if the Big XII blows up, any team without another home will end up in the Big East. It just makes too much sense. They will want to be proactive in the new landscape of college football.Comment

I'd like to see it stay somewhat geographically sound if the Big 12 blows up, but its not likely.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
After thinking about this a lot, I'm proud Baylor is standing up for what it believes in. I know A&M is pissed as I would expect them to be, but their reasoning for going to the SEC was "it's in our best interest."
Well Baylor is doing what is in "it's best interest," and for the most part I think it's in the best interest of the entire college athletic landscape.
I agree. I don't want to see the super-conferences either.
As for what does Baylor hope to accomplish from all of this?
1. Financial compensation from A&M or SEC if the conference disbands because of tortious interference
2. The rest of the Big XII holding together
3. Publicity
If A&M leaves the Big XII and it all falls apart, at least it'd be nice to have a new football stadium with that money A&M would send us. But in the meantime, I really enjoy playing the Midwest Big XII universities. Especially in basketball.
Most Baylor fans would be ok with A&M leaving the Big XII if it meant the rest of the conference stayed together. We're not big fan of aggys, no one really is (ask UT), and the SEC will soon see why.
Be very careful what you wish for SEC.Last edited by BaylorBearBryant; 09-08-2011, 07:59 AM.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
And as I said before, I doubt the SEC in the end would take much of a dent paying any sort of compensation to Baylor and the other ones getting desperate. A&M will still be in the SEC. The Big 12 is still likely to implode, probably somewhere around Austin I think. Superconferences will happen. The SEC will be at 13, probably 14, 15, and 16 in another year or two.
And the Big 12 has "approached" Arkansas multiple times and has been denied routinely. We went over this pages ago; Arkansas left the mess that was the Texas-run SWC for a reason. They won't go back to the same thing, especially when they are in a quite stable SEC.Comment

2. Oklahoma is going to stay in the Big 12 only if they want to this isnt putting any pressure on their decision.
3. Not all publicity is good publicity dont let the cliche fool youComment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Pat Forde wrote an article yesterday about the current state of the Big XII. In it he made a point that imo is equally applicable to the state of cfb as a whole:
Nobody is looking out for the common good. Nobody is in charge. Those with the most juice are exerting it solely on their own behalf, with disregard for all that is unique in college sports: tradition, geographic sense, nonrevenue sports, collegiality, regional flavor.
Imo the so-called superconferences, cobbled together with no regard to history, tradition or geography, will be the worst thing that has ever happened to the sport. Don't be surprised if 10 years from now the avg. sports fan views cfb as nothing more than minor league pro football with bands...Comment
