Some dude on the WVU Scout board is spouting about how WVU to the ACC will be announced at 3 PM. At least we won't have to wait long to refute this BS rumor.

WVU doesn't even come close to meeting the academic standards to get in the ACC.

      UConn looking like team #15.

Sounds like the letter will be sent soon.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

People need to get over geography and taking names literally. Just get over it, really. So the PAC is going to have teams who aren't on the Pacific Ocean? So what? If the Texas and Oklahoma schools join, there's a good chance they'll change the name anyway, maybe like PAC-Southwest or something like that. If they don't, get over it. The middle of the country doesn't fit in ANY geographical category with the teams they'd be joining. Get over it.

Oklahoma State and Texas Tech I think would absolutely be tolerated to get their big brothers. In an ideal world, we'd get Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri out here, but Oklahoma and Oklahoma State want to stay together. I don't think the SEC or Big 10 are willing to take Oklahoma State, so the PAC is their only real option. Texas Tech for political reasons probably needs to be dragged along so they don't get left behind. Baylor hopefully will end up in the WAC. They'd be getting exactly what they deserve, just 15 years too late. Given the Big East expansions though, maybe they can go to the Big East and they should consider that a great victory.

I think Oklahoma and Ok St will be going west tomorrow. Texas could be either way. I'm not sure Tech is the team that's going with them. It depends on how many options Texas has right now. If Texas still has leverage, they'll bring Tech to the Pac-16, but if they don't, it'll be Missouri. Nobody in the Pac-12 wants Texas Tech, and neither does Oklahoma. They all want Missouri. They were willing to settle for Tech - but if Texas is losing leverage, they may not have to settle.

I like the ACC's moves. I think Syracuse and Pitt fit the conference in football and basketball. It makes them stronger in both. I think UConn and Rutgers would both be good fits as well.

Mainly because of them threatening to sue the SEC over Texas A&M leaving. They have been fortunate for the last 15 years that the Governor of Texas made the other Texas school take them along to the Big 12 when the Big 12 wanted someone else-I think Houston? I don't remember, but Baylor sure didn't care about TCU or Houston or SMU or Rice or what happened to them when the SWC split up and they all got demoted to a lower conference. Now Baylor suddenly is going to sue everyone they can think of because they're about to get demoted like they deserve. Baylor needs to sit down and shut up and see what happens-like Texas Tech is. I'm very impressed with how Texas Tech has handled everything. Kudos to them.

Same university source who told me Dana [Holgorsen] was getting hired--& was spot-on re: everything--says WVU sent paperwork to SEC today. We'll see.

A few places saying Texas to the PAC. It's seemed all along that PAC or Independent were their only choices if the Big 12 collapses. Independent could work, but going to the PAC is the smart move. Money will be flowing when this new TV contract gets worked out.

If you were Baylor, what do you do?

They are getting a bad rap for doing the ONLY thing they can to save their program.

Tech is being quiet because Texas is taking them into the Pac. I have a suspicion that they knew this all along. No reason for them to talk and mess it up.

Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas State, and to a certain extent Kansas and Missouri, have a lot to lose. Everyone else has somewhere to go. So faulting them for not just sitting back and taking it because that's their place is ridiculous.

It sounds like the Pac-12 would let them keep their precious. They'd just have to air Pac-12 content on the Longhorn Network.

The Pac 12 is going to let Texas keep the Longhorn Network if they put other Pac 12 programming on it as well. A deal isn't done for the 4 schools, but they are working in that direction.

Baylor knows that their threat of a lawsuit is pointless because it has no hope of saving the conference. There's a time to let it go. Texas A&M WILL go to the SEC with or without Baylor's approval. At this point, it's time to accept there is almost no chance of the Big 12 surviving and they should focus their efforts on trying to get into the Big East instead of trying to sue people-because it won't accomplish anything. If Baylor gets into the Big East, good for them. If they end up in the WAC, I won't feel sorry for them, nor will I feel sorry for any other Big 12 school that's been spending all sorts of money they don't have yet and are worried about it. If Baylor were deserving of their Big 12 spot a long time ago, and now they were getting screwed, I'd feel bad for them, but Baylor will likely end up in the conference they deserved to be sent to 15 years ago.
