Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
I know it's an arbitrary argument because it's impossible to actually compare, but an interesting one and why I, personally, believe that the "modern" teams are better than the "all-time" teams. I also don't remember much about the '92 Bama team because I was 7 and my 1980 date from earlier doesn't apply, so I will take your word about how good they really were.Comment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
That's a good point, however, if you consider the evolution of football players and compare pre-1980 CFB to post-1980 CFB, I wonder what a game between "modern" teams vs. "classic" teams would look like. I'm in the camp that the "modern" player is so advanced physically (for a variety of reasons) that it would be tough for a "classic" player in their prime to compete.

2001 Miami however would absolutely hammer any of the teams you iisted.Comment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
Yeah I was joking with all of the Alabama teams. That Miami team really was ridiculous. Hell, all of that talent made some GMs think Ken Dorsey could play in the NFL. That's the most impressive accomplishment of that team, to me.Comment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
I don't think so man. Offensively anyway, the 92 team doesn't even come close imo. Defensively, there's an argument.
Also, I don't think Miami destroys any of those teams. Beaten sure, but not destroyed. I don't think there would have have been any blowouts. That's just the homer in me I guess some would say, but whatever. You have to give Miami the edge though in terms of talent though, ridiculous roster.PS: You guys are great.

Talent wise on that '01 Miami team alone would destroy many of the past National Champions we've had since then.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
Not really. 2004 USC was far, far more talented defensively than the 2005 team. Based on pure talent 2008 was probably the most talented USC team of the Carroll era.
Best team I have ever seen bar none was the 2001 Hurricanes. To me it's not even close.
After that in no particular order (only teams I have seen play)
1999 Florida St.
1995 Nebraska
2004 USC
1991 Washington
Best team to not go undefeated. 1993 Florida St.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment

There were guys on the 01 Miami team who would've been the best players on the recent Bama teams that couldn't get playing time in 01 for Miami. Talent wise 09 Alabama or 11 Alabama vs. 01 Miami is not even close.Comment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
I realized 95 Nebraska was awesome that year when I watched them steamroll every team they played.
I didn't realize how great 01 Miami was until their "backups" became pro-bowlers and the best players on their respective teams in the NFL.
01 Miami only won one game by less than double digits and that was at Va. Tech. I do remember them struggling against Boston College but I think they ran an interception back for a TD to win by 10 or 11.
I only remember that game because I need them to lose so my Sooners could get back into the title picture. Instead Nebraska got the honor of being the Big 12 team that got embarrassed.
Either way, 2001 Miami was something else. 95 Nebraska would be second.
As for USC, that 2004 team was a lot better than the 2005 because of their defense. Their defense had a ton of guys that played in the NFL.
There was also one year that USC lost an early Thursday night game at Oregon State. I think USC finished with one loss and no one even talked about them playing in the title game but they were really, really, good. I don't know why I can't remember the year.***My Teams***
NCAA - Oklahoma Sooners
MLB - St. Louis Cardinals
NFL - Dallas Cowboys
NBA - Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
Dude it wouldn't be close. They had guys like Sean Taylor, Frank Gore and kellen Winslow on th bench.

I already conceded that Miami had more talent than any of those teams. That really can't be debated at this point.
My disagreement concerning that 01' team was in the hypothetical on the field prediction of Miami blowing them out, which I don't think, hypothetically speaking of course, would be the case. Eh, whatever though it doesn't really matter.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Who do you think is the greatest team of all time?
Haha, I talked about them. I wanted to see USC-Utah that year, but instead we got Oklahoma-Florida (Bradford vs. Tebow). USC demolished a pretty good 2008 Penn State team in the Rose Bowl and Utah ran over Alabama who had been undefeated in the regular season. I think I loudly proclaimed that USC would demolish Oklahoma or Florida, but a lot of people laughed at me at the time.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
