I didn't see much of this game but I can see your concern there.

I'll say an A if only because in the last few years ND has had an unnerving ability to make weaker teams look great.

        Alabama

Offense: A. The run game was unstoppable. Yeldon is going to be something special and Fowler ran the ball well and looked great as a lead blocker. McCarron looked pretty good as he made some good throws and got rid of the ball when needed instead of taking an unnecessary sack. He did miss a couple of throws though, so there is room for improvement. The OLine didn't pass block all that well but they created huge holes for the run game.

Defense: B+. Run D was great, but the pass D allowed some big plays. The young players in the secondary showed (Milliner looked fantastic though) and that's my fear going into the Arkansas game in 2 weeks. Denard was bottled up for the most part, and the defense didn't miss many tackles.

Special Teams: A. 2-2 in field goals, including a 51 yarder from Foster. Cody Mandell hit a couple of nice punts. Christon Jones had a couple of nice returns as well. Maze will be tough to replace, but the kicking game looked like an improvement.

Overall, definitely an A but the pass D needs to tighten up before the trip to Fayetteville.

          MarQueis Gray: F

          Rest of the team: A-

Defense played a great game, I can't remember the last time I saw a Gopher defense tackle that well. We got some consistent pressure on the QB which was refreshing. We had 4 INTs ALL YEAR last season, but we had 3 in game 1 of this season, there were a lot of positives to take away from the defensive side of the ball.

The offense was very good, except for Gray. Our WRs were running circles around UNLV's secondary. I distinctly remember 4 times when Gray (badly) missed a wide open WR that would have led directly to a score, there was probably at least one or two more that I'm forgetting. The funny thing is that Gray's line makes it look like he had a pretty good game, lol

All in all, tough for a Gopher fan to be upset about a road win, even if it did take 3 OT's.

              A* (Florida State)

I Put the * because it's vs Murray State, thought the offensive line looked very good. Opened up big holes for the backs and gave E.J. time to go through his reads and made plays. Defense played well but expected vs a FCS team.

Re: Grade you team's first game performance

                Offense- A-

The OL run blocking wasn't great and we had 3 fumbles, but it was good to see knile davis back and Tyler Wilson is a great QB. Brandon Mitchell and Chris Gragg were great catching the ball as well. Our offense should still be great.

                Defense- C

I'd expect them to improve, but our secondary looked lost. Giving up 24 to jacksonville state is unacceptable. Our DL wasn't too bad but we still lack some toughness against the run. With our new DC hopefully he'll get them to play better...i like each guy individually but they don't gel together for whatever reason.

Special teams was pretty solid...hocker had about 5 touchbacks out of the endzone and the return units were decent.

                      I'd give Michigan State a B-.

The defense was pretty much superb throughout the game and LeVeon Bell put da team on his back. But, I'd give the passing game an F. Maxwell looked so uncomfortable when pressured and made poor throwing decisions much of the game, and was inaccurate. The receivers (outside of TE Dion Sims) were horrendous as well. One interception that was 100% the receiver's fault, and that fumble was simply inexcusable and nearly cost us the game.

                        Notre Dame:

                        Offense - A

I know it was against Navy and an undersized D-line, but it's been a long time since I've seen ND just line up and roadgrade an opponent. They could absolutely run the ball at will, for 5-6 yards a pop yesterday. Golson looked pretty good to me, minus the pick he threw in the redzone because he waited too long to pull the trigger. I have a weird feeling that he's going to be special in this offense, a perfect fit for Kelly's scheme. He hasn't had a QB to fit his scheme here yet. Riddick looked totaly comfortable back at RB, Atkinson displayed his world class speed and when we get Wood back, our RB stable will be stacked. The O-line should be good this year and they certainly were against Navy. I'm also pretty excited about Davarris Daniels and Davonte Neal. This may be the most athletic offense we have fielded in over a decade.

                        Defense - B+

The D-line was absolutely dominant. Nix played as well as I can ever remember him playing. I was worried when Lynch transfered to USF, but Stephon Tuitt, himself a very high recruit last year, played a hell of a game. He evevn looks, physically, like Lynch. ND hasn't had guys built like Tuitt or Lynch in a while. On that fumble return he had, he was about 10 yards ahead of the Rb chasing him when he picked it up and 75 yards later, he was still 7-8 yards ahead. Pretty impressive for a 300 lb guy. The secondary looked really shaky to me. I'm hoping it was more of a scheme thing, not wanting to sell out to help out with the run/option game and risk getting beat deep, than just flat out not being able to cover. Losing Lo Wood is going to hurt when we play Oklahoma and USC I think. Te'o had a nice game as well, but Ishaq Williams, Nix and Tuitt really stood out to me.

                        Special Teams - F

When you miss an extra point and have another snap go right through the holders hands, it's always a bad day.

Liked the defense a whole lot. Run game was kinda meh outside of two runs which made up over 100 yards out of 191. Pass game was nice with the occasional miss. Overall it was about what I expected.

Just not a real good performance. Their defense saves them from getting a D. Offense was manhandled after the first quarter and the offensive line was abysmal, as was the running game.

If they don't find a way to block someone, Keith Price is going to be in for a rough, rough game next week at LSU.
Let's just hope it was rust, and not a sign of things to come. We played LSU well under Locker, so I'll hold out hope.

                              Offense- Passing C-, Rushing B+

We wanted to run the ball and it was no secret as we threw little all being dink an dunks. Mike G had a big day running and would have been even better but we refused to pass most of the time and would run against 8 in the box even though we got stuffed quite a few times

Passing was also slowed because when we did pass both QB's would miss easy passes even to wide open Wr's

                              Defense- B-

The way they ran offense it was hard to get any pass rush as they passed as soon as the Qb set his feet. We did alright but have to be much better, and as for run defense we were pretty decent but we have got to work on tackling better no more arm grabs and them gaining to 2-3 extra yards as we would seem to run to them not run through them.

Overall we were pretty average and must find who we want as Qb. Gonna be a fun game at A&M

This one doesn't really count for all that much being that it was Savannah State, but still, burying any opponent 84-0 can't really be graded much lower.
