I'm not sure how it's not relevant. It's not like it didn't happen. Lots of sports teams haven't won in 20 years and are still relevant. Notre Dame hasn't won a national title in quite awhile but they're relevant enough to have an exclusive deal with a major network.

After a slow start, Texas beats NMSU 59-7...the Horns had 720 yards which is an all time school record FYI fwiw

having fans show up or watch on tv doesn't me you are relevant in college football where the goal is to win a championship

If Texas doesn't win the Big 12 this year then it's time for Mack to step down and let someone else take over.

I agree BigD, the Horns have the talent to win the conference this season. they are past due to win a conference Title and if they don't they might need to look at major coaching changes. I don't think Mack will leave though regardless and there's a good chance that the Horns will be good enough and will win the conference so he doesn't have to leave because Idk if there are many better options that they could bring in

This is the worst OU team Stoops has ever had on paper. Even during the Bomar years we still had a few studs on the lines and Adrian Peterson.

Oklahoma State and TCU are decent teams but they aren't top 10 teams.

Texas brings everybody back and has the most experienced QB in the league. They almost have to win this year.

I'm expecting about an 8-4 season out of my Sooners, 9-3 if they're lucky. Quite honestly, I was shocked OU spanked Texas last year....we were only a three point favorite.

Yea ou and much of the conference seems to be down. Texas has no excuses this season but after last season's debacle I won't pick a UT win in the rrr until I see it

Northern Iowa beating Iowa State took a little sting off Iowa losing to Northern Illinois, but man I'm getting sick of losing to MAC teams at home.

I don't understand Greg Davis sometimes. They had multiple 3rd and short scenarios and they chose to pass. Iowa has a good o-line, and a bruiser of a runner is Weisman, and they throw. With a QB who's playing his 1st D-1 game to boot.

Iowa has always been a ground and pound team and they have gone away from what works in key situations. Never really liked the Greg Davis hire to begin with, but right now I am hating it and it might be the downfall of Ferentz.

Don't even get me started on the lack of the TE's in the passing attack.

What a great win for Washington. Nice way to break in the renovated stadium. Do you think there was a revenge factor after losing to Boise in the Las Vegas Bowl? That was a tough assignment for Boise State, to have to beat the same team twice in a row on the road like that. Maybe Washington is really good this year. I guess we'll find out soon enough, as the Huskies now travel to Illinois, then play Stanford and Oregon back to back in a few weeks.

And how about those Wyoming Cowboys, a 4-8 Mountain West team last year, going into Nebraska and coming within a field goal of the Huskers!! And how about all those FCS teams beating FBS teams this weekend. K-State going down to North Dakota State! What an opening week of college football. Can't wait to see more non conference games. We're finding out who is for real opening week!

I know it's only week one, but this is already looking like it's going to be a WTF season. Bama did not look good on offense (as expected when you lose that many O-Lineman), Georgia pulled a Georgia like always in a big game, OSU BOTH (Not even getting into OrSU), looked WTF against Buffalo and Miss State respectively. Florida is not good again this season. At least Oregon did what they do.

A&M's Defense, anybody seen it? SC looked pretty good as did Clemson, though Clemoson should have put Georgia away late and instead gave them the ball back with too much time. LSU may actually have a passing game, though Les miles still managed to screw up clock management (LOL at the end of the first half). Oklahoma's passing game was stymied by ULM?

Notre Dame played well in the first half then...Michigan played well, and will probably be too much for ND if they play like they did this week. Nebraska, LOL Nebraska, will be another frustrating season for Big Red. The recently overrated Boise got throttled by U-Dub, so we should be done hearing about them this year, but don't celebrate too loudly Pac-12 Oregon State forgot to show up.

And finally, laughs and WTFs go out to the 43 pollsters who voted for KSU to be in the TOP 25.

The best part about all of this? Louisville and FSU still haven't played yet and both could be primed for a letdown so week 1's madness may not be over yet.
