    Re: Week 1 Discussion

I know it was against Austin Peay, but UT looked much better than what I've seen the last few years.

To be fair to TAMUs defense 6 of their starters are suspended for the first two games.

I was pleased with my teams.

LSU looked really good. They need to work on the deep pass this week, but it's understandable that they struggled because Beckham and Landry aren't used to going that far to catch the ball.

Texas Tech really surprised me. Baker Mayfield had the 2nd most passing yards in the country, and he's the first walk-on true freshman to ever start a season for an AQ school.

          Re: Week 1 Discussion

          I have no real complaints.

We struggled where I thought we would. Ellis Johnson's strategy worked well enough to get the win. We played our safeties deeper because our secondary is banged up. We didn't give up the deep ball, but alowed a bunch of slant routes.

Three interceptions from the AU defense.

The defensive line looked pretty good, but rough around the edges. It will be nice to get Dee Ford back, but the freshman Montravious Adams was great for his first start. Watched him rip through a double team on more than one occasion.

Corey Grant was the most efficient back for us. Malzahn wants to run first anyways and it helps to have Tre Mason, Cameron Artis-Payne, and Corey Grant all in the mix and getting touches.

          My biggest concerns going forward:
          • The secondary.. it's the biggest weakness we have right now.
          • Dropped passes. There were several wide open passes dropped, mostly from Ricardo. Sammie Coates was solid.
          • Nick Marshall's accuracy.

They will figure it out with Nick Marshall. The guy has a lot of talent and ability. I'm confident Malzahn will put the kid in the position to succeed at the quarterback position. It's a lot easier to build on a win and there were def. a lot of positive things to take away from the game.

LSU looked pretty good, they just need to finish in the red zone. I get that the core of this team will always be power running with Les as coach, but it's ok to come out with different formations inside the 10.

Allegedly, he got got a job at a car dealership, but didn't do what he was hired to do, which is supposedly an NCAA violation. Bob Stoops dismissed him from the team, and he had a decent career at Sam Houston.

He did win MVP of the Holiday Bowl.

Pretty bad but they learned that from LSU. Best way to not need to do that? Watch last year's game vs. South Carolina.

Lol pretty sure if they learned it from anyone, it was all the teams that have done it against Oregon, not LSU.

It will be interesting to see if Louisville and Cincinnati can make it to the final week of the season undefeated when they play each other. The AAC is awful and neither team plays a game they should lose until then. Of course, upsets probably will happen.
