I know, I heard this before. A while back someone said he thought I was a banned Penn State fan who used to frequent this board. Who was this guy and what happened?Comment

Re: Week 7 Discussion
I had a big response typed out for this, but then I decided it wasn't worth it. All I can ask is how much Miami football you have watched in the Al Golden era? If you have watched any significant amount and can tell me with a straight face Al Golden is a good football coach, then I will be at a loss of words and we can just end it there.
The fact that Al Golden has a career record that is right around 1-22 against teams that finish with 8 wins or more says enough about him. Or the fact that he gets outscored in the 2nd half of games at 3:1 ratio. Or the fact that him and his best friend's "great unique defense" have broken records at Miami for giving up so many yards.
I am not saying they are national title contenders because they are far from it. However, with Golden they aren't even division title contenders and they never will be with him as the head coach.Comment

Re: Week 7 Discussion
Well there's been other rule changes that have put defenses in more vulnerable positions. Like targeting, and stricter 15-yard penalties for roughing the QB and hitting players after they run out of bounds.
Those things move us farther away from hardcore football, but spotting the ball quicker has been a recent point of emphasis for officials. What happened was they realized that spotting the ball quicker gave defenses less time to sub, which became a player safety issue, so refs were told not to spot the ball as fast anymore.
Hurry-up offenses were still utilized before that rule change, just not to the extent of that they are now. All the various changes have a net effect of making the game less hardcore. Not only that, but we're seeing a lot more delay of game and 12 men on the field penalties depending on how quick they spot it.Comment
