    Re: Week One Discussion

I still don't understand why Les at LSU either can't recruit good QBs (aside from Mettenberger and maybe a couple others) or can't develop them, but I've been saying this for several years now. Quite a sad state of affairs, really.

Greg McElroy made a good point about the LSU WRs via Wisconsin's DB coach Jim Leonhard. LSU has big WRs but they don't make use of their size and play "small" rather than taking advantage of their natural gifts. Some of that has to go to coaching right?

Pretty much all of their problems comes down to coaching.

Should this guy be allowed to play another game in an LSU uniform?

LSU senior guard Josh Boutte was ejected from Saturday's 16–14 loss to Wisconsin after a late cheap shot on safety D'Cota Dixon.

Yes he should, but he should also be suspended at least 2 games.

I'm getting a little tired of us expecting 18-21 year olds to never misbehave in the middle of competing. Was it out of line? Absolutely? Should he be punished? Absolutely...but let's not act like this one act defines him, is who he is, etc.

                  Lol @ "misbehave."

This dude lowered his helmet, lined the guy up, and blew up a defenseless player with a flagrant head shot multiple seconds after the play was ended.

Should be he banished to a prison cell or something? No. But you're taking it to the opposite extreme. This isn't a "kids being kids" situation. "Kids being kids" is when I TP'd my friend's house in middle school. This is a 300 pound man using himself as a weapon to blast another person in the head.

It's still heat of the moment/frustration/competition stuff...it's not like he sat for 5 minutes and calculated that he was going to do this. I'm just not going to say this guy is a loser who should never play again because he made a mistake in the heat of the moment...I don't see what's so "extreme" about that.

This Texas offense is gonna be fun. Hook 'Em.

EDIT: Shane Buechele is the first true freshman to start the season opener for UT since 1944, when some kid named Bobby Layne did the same.

SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPES!!!! Rooting for UT as the underdog. It's a lot more balanced than I would have expected so far. What do you guys think? Does UT have their guy in Bouchele? I prefer Swoopes because of the chant.

Texas O looks much improved under the new OC.

On the other hand, ND's defense looks lethargic and pretty unengaged. Waiting for someone - anyone - to make a play.
