I can imagine the salt of B1G and Pac-12 fans in that scenario w here the SEC Champ gets to play a G5 team some years while the Rose Bowl tie-ins force the other two conferences to always play each other.

Eh, I'm not sure about that. The B10/Pac-12/Rose Bowl have always liked being exclusive with each other. I think they'd welcome that coming back. For me personally, the Rose Bowl never feels right when it has something other than a B10/Pac-12 matchup.

They liked the exclusiveness of it with the past setup, but I doubt they'd be in love with the idea of their playoff teams always having P5 match-ups while other conferences had the potential to play "weaker" G5 teams.

I'm not shooting the idea down. I would prefer that over what we have now also, I can just see the salt already..... and it's glorious.

Word on the street is that the B1G is now modifying their COVID protocols down from 21 to 17 days. They’ve been using protocols beyond what the CDC recommends, but to do it now when it’s impacting OSU and change it to the exact number of days that gets OSU it’s players back is a bad look. It continues to look as if OSU runs the B1G, regardless of if that is the reality or not.

Yeah that was announced last week. They've essentially changed everything to help get/keep a team in the playoff.

I don't really blame them. This is what college football has become

It's college football, so someone is always going to complain. With the current state of the Pac-12, I think it's more likely SEC fans would complain about Ohio State getting off easy.

I miss the days when the goal each season was to 1. Beat your rival and 2. Go to the Rose/Sugar/Orange/Cotton Bowl (depending on which region you lived in). And if you accomplished those goals, then maybe you had a shot at the national championship. I doubt we're ever going back to those days, but I can dream.

This must be a mistake. The B1G never reverses course to change a decision. Never. #LeadersAndLegends.

Alabama's a 20 point favorite in Vegas and I still think I'd take the over.

Hurdle of the year by Harris? Wow!!

14-0 already, this is getting out of hand. Notre Dame better score here....

Well, Notre Dame got the touchdown they desperately needed. But their defense has to get some stops...

EDIT: And Alabama effortlessly drives the field and scores another touchdown.

Even though Alabama is clearly a lot better than Notre Dame, today is why those big lines are so risky. Looks like Alabama is going to only win by 17 (and maybe less if Notre Dame can add a garbage time score here).

The Irish actually did a good job defensively. The game was never in doubt, but I think I this is the best anyone has done all season of holding Alabama’s offense in check, though the SEC seems to have Big 12 worthy defenses these days.

That makes 11 of 19 playoff games decided by 3 or more scores.
