This guy actually could complain about it. Saying someone ran down the clock to 1 is actually realistic. Time warping of the clock after a critical play is where chew clock could hurt this game. But using it to run time off the click isn't a bad thing at all.

No Rich Rodriguez doesn't say that, but in the time it takes to get the play in and get all the audibles and whatever changes need to be made at the line, that time has ran off the play clock. Calling plays on a video game goes a lot faster than it does in real life. This feature makes it so people don't have to wait and watch a bunch of nothing happen. It also is realistic because it actually incoporates the time a team would take to call a play in real life most of the time. Think about it, how often do you see the ball snapped with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. Rarely if ever. It is more realistic to have this feature on technically.

Obviously you have never played football in your life and if you did it wasnt in a spread offense. Calls take 5-10 secs for the coaches to signal in. unless there is a timeout for a crucial playcall. Even then the 10 seconds still have to tick off the clock. They dont just say ok trips right 42 ok warp 5 secs off.

and the ball is snapped at different intervals depending on the gametime etc. Even when its snapped at 20+ they are on the field lined up doing auds etc. They dont start the play with 5 secs to go rush to the line and hike the ball. The time ticks off.

It's not realistic to bring the clock down to 1 every play you have the ball for the last 3 quarters and I've never seen ANYONE do that until this game, because people don't want to sit through the entire playclock every single down because it takes too long. Even the cheesiest of the cheesy wouldn't do it, but now that we have chew clock taking off a good chunk of it for them, it makes it easy for them to do it.

Uhhhhhh yes actually it is. Any legitimate football team does this when they have the lead or aren't doing a 2 minute drill. The longer you have the ball in your possession the less time that is available for your opponent to score. That's how it works in real life and that's how it works in the game. I don't think you have ever watched football.

If you don't want people to do that to you, you a) can't give them a two score lead and b) when they do start to eat the clock you better score and make them regret it. But really, I love the feature. A+.
You couldn't be anymore correct. This is a realistic feature. That's how old school, grind it out football works.

The amount your can run the clock down isn't realistic in relation to the qtr length given.

on your playbook screen during a game, if you press B and go to the front of the playbook (where it says ask corso and stuff) at the bottom it will have chew clock.

                    i personally love the feature.

Even without chew clock you can still run the clock down, so I don't see a problem with this.

People aren't seeming to grasp that concept. If this feature wasn't in the game my opponents would just be waiting at the play calling screen while I ran the clock down. Instead this feature speeds up the process.

It REALLY pissed me off because he got up 14-0 with cheese tactics before I got a lucky break on a fumble recovery and interception to tie it up at 14-all...felt like I was back in it, then he starts running his usual cheese offense, runs the play clock down to one every time AND has chew clock on taking off about 10 seconds each snap. Really killed me at the end of the first half and end of the game when I kept it close and needed to get the ball back and he just ran the clock down with this crap. I try to keep cool when playing video game football but this game really sent me through the roof. I didn't even realize chew clock was an option on the playcall screen until this but I figure once a lot of people notice it, it's going to become very abused.

I realize you can return the favor to the person doing it, but then the game just becomes ridiculous and no fun.
Not to sound like a total dick, but when did running the clock become a cheese tactic? Isn't it an accepted part of the game to run down the clock when you're ahead, tied, or getting ready for the go ahead score so that you limit your opposition's offensive chances.

I think the point of what the OP is saying is this..

Running out the clock while using less than desirable tactics is lame and unsportsmanlike.

We all know that teams run out the clock IRL in the right situations. Also as another poster stated with 5 min quarters there is limited time from the get-go.I personally think that the play clock should be accelerated when playing online in 5min qtrs.

When it comes to video gms the rules get tossed out the window when playing online lobby gms, that is fact that you either have to accept or work around.Personally I would screen my opponents or just not play thats all.

I could care less about chew the clock features. I would appreciate someone online using it every play. If they are using it then they can't make the appropriate offensive pre-play adjustments (slide protect, motion, etc.) in the 12 seconds left. If you are taking time to call plays and make adjustments to make the plays work then you are down to 10 seconds on the play clock anyway.

Tend to agree with this guy. Especially if you have to leave the game for some reason, it speeds up the game.
