Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #2 Available?
Well.... the protect ball in the open field still exists.
A FSU linebacker just recovered a fumble, had 70 yards of open field with nobody in sight... and went into protect ball mode for 20 yards while getting caught from behind by an offensive lineman.
Maybe they just eliminated this for HBs which would make zero sense.
Also, the Read Option play is still utterly useless and broken.Comment

CPU controlled. Any user controlled play can be money, even the triple option has a ton of great plays for users. My comments will always be related to CPU AI, sorry I should have mentioned that.Comment

I saved the video. It was exactly the same as the pre-patch issue. If it is limited to defenders then that's still better than before the patch.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #2 Available?
Another thing very apparent is that defender pursuit has been ramped up a ton. I'm running toss plays and the defenders are across the LOS before my HB catches the pitch from the QB.
I'm assuming this was done to lower the effectiveness of the user outside running, but the CPU is going to be hopeless outside of the hash marks without slider adjustments. Just an FYI for those using custom sliders for the CPU.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #2 Available?
CPU HB's still use Protect Ball WAY too often. No defender within 2 yards on either side and they lose out on breakaway runs because they are protecting the ball instead of hitting holes down the field.
The thing that makes guys like Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, or Noel Devine explosive is that they explode through the 2nd line within the blink of an eye. HB's on this game take 5-6 seconds just to get through the 2nd line of defense because they are scared to move at full speed.
It's an improvement, but hopefully this isn't what EA considers a final product. CPU rushing still feels neutered.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #2 Available?
This sort of brings up an interesting point.
Microsoft requires that you get Title Updates if a game is patched, you are forced to get them. But, if you don't have EA Online Pass, then you will not get the tuners. And, from how it sounds, progression and training results are totally borked without the tuners and WITH the patch. So, will this functionally kill the game for anybody who buys the game w/o buying EA online pass?
Now, I bought retail so I have it... but still.. worth asking.
If you buy the game from a 3rd party then EA wants to make sure you pay for the online pass. Go EA, good business model.
The more sales EA makes = the better football game we get.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #2 Available?
It is funny you mention Adrian Peterson hitting holes full speed because he had a big time fumble problem last year. Seems to me he could have used more protect ball animations.Comment

Most of his fumbles were around the LOS. That's true for most HB's.
It is funny though in hindsight.Comment

Overall this is a better game of football after the patch. The game still needs a lot of polish but you can tell that effort was put into certain areas where obvious weaknesses were.Comment
