Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
EA got the exclusivity in 2004, so they obviously pressed for it in 2004. Also, they tried to get the NBA exclusivity too (because 2K again was crushing them and starting to take away market share) http://sports.ign.com/articles/574/574539p1.html
Thank god the NBA denied it. I wish the NFL did the same.

Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
You just made the other sides point for them, the "blame" for the football deals lies with the NFL and NCAA, not at EAs door. Like the NBA and MLB they could have denied the exclusive route but they didn't. Trying to make it out as if EA did it to kill competition instead of what it really was, the NFL/NCAA wanted the deal to have full control over their products, is just plain ridiculous and disingenuous.
And yes, NBA or MLB could have denied but they didn't because there were more of those games being made and license money being paid to those respective leagues. NFL had Madden offering massive amounts of money because guess what, Madden is/was EA's biggest US franchise and they'd been making bank off of it since like 1990.
EA obviously did it to try to quell competition, I don't see how it's possible to argue otherwise. What have they done with those licenses exactly? Have you ever seen 2k5?
Point is, EA went to the NFL, not the other way around. When the NFL heard how much EA was willing to pay they went to 2k and got their offer. 2K obviously didn't have the funds that EA Sports did and so NFL went with the huge payday from EA. What we have gotten extra in our games from EA regarding this exclusive license has been nothing, as far as I can tell. Nothing new in the game that wasn't in there before. I honestly don't see how you could read my post and what was included in it and then claim that I am making their point for them and that the NFL just wanted more control over their product.Comment

Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
First it's not a monopoly. Second it's not preventing you from playing the game. It's preventing you from advancing the game in a manner which you've never been able to before. Paying extra for an advanced feature is nothing new.
That's quite a big reach saying its preventing you from playing. If that were the case then you'd never have been able to play the game previously.
I just stated how it could prevent me from playing the game. Is it a reach? Sure it might be, but it's still not allowing me to play the game when if everyone had that feature I would be able to play. And yes, paying for a new/advanced feature is something new for me. I didn't have to pay for EA Fifa UT, I never had to pay to see my Halo stats or COD stats. I can queue up demos from my Xbox Live account online. I'm not sure when I have ever paid for a new/advanced feature to be honest. Yes I've paid for maps and for new chapters in games but never for a feature.Comment

Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
Trying to paint the people who have an issue with this as having some "agenda" is a hilariously cheap argument.
Like it's a huge shock that arguably the two biggest online dynasty specific new features aren't free this year and people are mad about that.Last edited by poopoop; 05-31-2011, 08:36 AM.Comment

I think the outright misinformation being passed on as fact as well as the blatant reaches to attempt to make a point make it quite clear.Comment

Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
What's your agenda then. Why are you in every thread on this topic trying to minimize the issue and discredit anyone who speaks out against it?
Example You from a similar thread 2 years ago:
You point out it's the same people complaining every time. Why should the people on the other side get a pass though? You can dig through older threads and see the exact same people making the exact same arguments.Comment

Some actual unbiased discussion of the game would be nice as well.Comment

Re: New Features Aren’t All Free in NCAA Football 12
There's been bias and misinformation from people on both sides of the discussion. This is undeniable. What is questionable is why you only seem concerned with the bias/misinformation/poor logic from one side, but give the other a pass.
I think it's completely unnecessary and unfair to try to put negative labels people who take an issue with this. It's not unreasonable for people to have an issue with how EA handles DLC.Last edited by poopoop; 05-31-2011, 09:26 AM.Comment

People having issue with DLC is one thing. Saying you can't play the game without DLC and that the NFL license deal is to blame for DLC is a completely different ball game.
Bottom-line is these are extra features that are not required to play the game. If they aren't worth your 3 dollars don't buy them.
No one likes DLC but this is quite obviously the way the industry has gone. As long as I don't have to pay extra for things that are required to play the game I can live with it. I just choose carefully what DLC I purchase.Comment

What other NCAA or NFL sports game can I get for my Xbox 360?

If you don't have an issue with it, fine. If you want to go buy it, fine. But trying to argue with and discredit the people who do have an issue is an entirely different thing.
Like I said earlier you got EA charging for arguably the two biggest OD specific additions. Not everyone is gonna say "it's ok those are just extras." Not everyone is going to just shrug their shoulders and say "hey that's just the way things are oh well!"
Maybe not yet but, it's definitely in our near future.

Activision (if they're the ones that make COD games) are just as bad if not worse than EA. Whining about Activision on a NCAA football board seems a bit dumb though. Go start a thread about it in the other games section and I'll be right there with you. Even though I don't even play COD games. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

They aren't going to offer this service for free. They aren't. They will either get enough people to buy it to cover their expenses and make X amount of profit, or they simply won't offer it in the future.
Expecting that this would be included with the 60 dollar cover price is pollyannish at best.Jordan Mychal Lemos
