If you don't like the Coaching Carousel, just turn it off and have offers like last year...Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
I can never get a HC job at a good school because they all get filled up before I can even apply. I go to the coaching change screen and there's so many jobs taken already. I have had my OC take the HC job at Auburn without me even getting an offer.Comment

Was the OC at USC. After the season ended Steve Spurrier retired and I signed a 3 year contract with South Carolina to be the head coach.Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
I will say this, as far as HC opportunities, I had to be patient. It wasn't until after my 4th season as OC for USC that I got HC job offers I had interest in - Ohio State and South Carolina. I accepted OSU because they had a strong roster and program, and now I'm 9-0 with the toughest part of the schedule coming up. Goals are pretty tough and I'm still only 57% in job security.
Demanding crowd!Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
I love the way it works, I started out as HC at Washington State thinking I'd be able to build them up. In my third season my starting QB was a 69 overall and I lost a bunch of games. Even though I don't think I should have been fired, I was and my only HC offer was at Rice who was in terrible shape. So I tried to get the OC job at Houston and they passed on me so I was left with OC at Marshal and DC at Hawaii. I chose Hawaii because I think it will be easier to pass my goals with them then it would trying to run a offense with another crap QB. Pretty exciting to me. Just makes me mad because I just signed the #20 class with Washington State and brought in the #1 HB!!!WVU Mountaineers Detroit Lions Baltimore Orioles Boston Celtics Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
A question for those who have gone farther in their dynasties than me:
I'm in year 4 of my offline Dynasty as the HC of Boston College. My Alma Mater is Wisconsin and it's my goal to one day take that job. It may be cheese, but as I work through my dynasty I've been consciously re-simming the UW games each week to make sure they have 2 and 3 win seasons each year.
I'm doing this because I want to break the program down to a 1-2 program and then stage a "return to glory". This is the last year of Bielema's contract which won't get renewed and I'm guessing there is a good chance i will be offered the job. However the program is still a 4* (maybe 3* after the season?) program so it hasn't hit rock bottom for me yet.
So my question is this: if I turn down the job offer this off season does that mean they'll never come back to me again. Logic says they would but as has been outlined the CC can be a bit wonky. Has anyone had experience with being offered the same job multiple times?
Just wanted to be sure before I moved through the offseason without taking the job.Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
Okay I just finished my 8th year with Arkansas. Just had the biggest season being undefeated and winning the National Championship. I won the SEC 4 times as HC with Arkansas. My Alma Mater is Ole Miss and I've been waiting very patiently for Houston Nutt to retire. Well.....he finally did. It shows me as their #1 candidate for the job. I get excited. Instead they hire some OC from Miami (Ohio). What's up with that? Very pissed over that. No way a school hires some small OC over a coach that is coming off an NC and is the Alma Mater of that school.Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
I'm in year 4 of my dynasty as the Offensive Coordinator for Houston. I haven't received any good job offers yet, so I'm just going to be patient until an opportunity comes up at a big program. I put Houston in the Big 12 in Year 2 of my dynasty to replace Texas A&M which I put in the SEC. So far, Oklahoma is my Achilles Heel. I can't seem to beat them!Comment

Patience is definitely the key. My first HC season @ Florida - 9-3. Haven't played the Sugar Bowl yet. Seems like Ohio St OC was what brought me up.OC Record 73-32 - 4 Rose Bowl/3 Con. Championships/ 1 BCS Title

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
Year 1 & 2 Started as OC at 1 star Army
OC Army (Big East) 4-24 Averaged 25 a game and met all offensive goals except win 8 in a season. After two seasons of putting up solid offensive numbers and only winning 4 games I was fairly certain if I received any kind of a decent offer I was gone. Best offer I had after season 1 was OC at Kansas and scoffed at it only to watch them make it to the Big 12 title game.
Year 3 & 4 - Took the OC job at 2 star Virginia (I had moved them to the Big East before season 1 so no jump to a new conference yet)
OC Virginia (Big East) 13 - 13 [6 and 7 win seasons with losses in both bowls] Again met all my offensive goals except the win 8 games in a season goal.
Year 5 & 6 - Took the OC job at 4 star Notre Dame
Notre Dame (Big 10) 19 - 6 with Bowl wins over Virginia Tech and Clemson
Year 7 & 8 - Took HC job at 3 star Ole Miss
Ole Miss (SEC) First season 11 - 3, won the SEC east and lost to Auburn in the SEC Championship by 3 on a field goal with 3 seconds left. Beat the U in a bowl game. Signed a top 20 class with two promising recruits (4 star possession receiver and a 4 star Athlete that came in with A speed and B+ Man Coverage and Zone Converage)
Second season started off 4 - 0 with huge win over #7 Georgia Tech to start the season, only to get crushed in 3 of my next 5 games by Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama and I thought extinguish my hopes for a repeat SEC east title. Rebounded in game 10 against #10 Ohio State with a 35-28 win on a last second 45 yard TD by my true freshman possession receiver (Both freshmen have been huge with the CB hauling in 6 picks over 9 games) and rolled over Middle Tennessee State and an awful LSU team to stand at 9-3 wth one game left, Mississippi State.
After the LSU game I looked at the standings and Georgia Tech, Georgia, Miss St and I are all sitting at (4-3) If Tech beats Georgia in the last week of the season and I beat Miss St I repeat as East champs with a tie breaker over Tech. Georgia wins or I lose and I am out. Last season I backed into the title game on a tie breaker after a loss to Miss State so its time for payback.
I think this is going to be my last year at Ole Miss despite loving the recruits I brought in. Les Miles has run LSU into the ground and after this season when they finish 2-11 they will be a 2 star program and he will have failed all but one of his goals. Although he is in year 2 of 3 I can't imagine he won't get fired currently sitting at 19% security and goals have not registered as failed yet. Brian Kelly has done the same to Notre Dame taking them all the way to a one star and despite them being the real life team I follow, I don't think I can pass up coaching night games in Death Valley in the SEC and restoring the Tigers.Comment

The Coaching Carousel selection process is in need of work.
I was HC at Ohio State for 3 seasons (after 4 as USC OC), and my contract was up. Job offers listed were 1) renewing at Ohio State, 2) HC at current BCS NC Texas (HC contract ran out). I was interested in taking over Texas so I declined the OSU renewal, and after the autosave of my decline, Texas appears to have re-signed their HC and I'm high and dry.
Of course every subsequent job offer is crap and now my coaching career in that dynasty is off the rails.
Just list the choices and let us select one, don't make us process them one at a time in order so this can happen. REALLY annoying and unnecessarily tedious.Comment

You dont have to decline the renewal. You can just cancel and then go through the carousel and the last offer will always be the renewal of your current contract. I like the process of watching each move rather than being able to pick because it creates a risk reward system when you may pass on a position hoping for a better one only to not have that opening happen.Comment

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
This isn't the same Topic as the OP but I wanted to ask here and not start a new thread..... Anyways my question is this. I did a teambuilder of Rutgers and signed a 3year HC deal with them when I started my dynasty. Well after the first year another 3 year contract came up. I guess I don't understand. Why would a new 3 year contract come up if I'm already in a 3 year contract? I signed it and went forward, but I'm wondering about this....... Maybe it actually said year 2 before I signed it and they just changed up some of the goals? I didn't see it (at least I don't remember seeing year 2)...... If that was a totally new contract, does that happen all the time? If so what is the point in the Coaching Carousel if you have to do a new contract every year with the same team? Thanks.NFL 2k5 When Sept. Ends.

Re: Your Experience with Coaching Carousel?
I heard about shady firings and I decided to go without using the feature. I'd love to have a contract but it would kill my dynasty if I were fired for no reason.
