Re: NCAA Football 13 Sights and Sounds Details with Video and Screenshots

Would have liked to see some more screenshots, would like to see what the progressive lighting looks like on the field or during gameplay in a screenshot.

I think the Photographic Side of NCAA Football 13 is going to be must see material again and would have like to get a taste of what's in store in that regard.

The 3 teams holding up trophies don't do much for me

This has nothing to with making a perfect game. There will never be a perfect game because we are humans and humans are FAR from perfect. This has nothing to do with opinion either but look boss you talk about your opinion if you want to its a free country. But I deal with facts

But do this experiment. Play NCAA 12 or Madden 12 let the CPU play. Ask yourself does this game actually look like football? Matter fact watch a real game in full then go back to NCAA or Madden and compare... NCAA and Madden "barely at best" compares to the real thing, barely. Now what does NBA 2k9 and up, MLB the Show ALL, FiFa 10 and up, PES 2010 and up, how do these games compare to the real thing?

Its about "FOOTBALL" though not how much better is this years game is to last years game.

      These are facts
NBA 2k MLB the SHOW and maybe FIFA every year the devs add "THOUSANDS" not hundreds but THOUSANDS of new animations EVERY YEAR. Last year NCAA devs boasted about 200-300 {maybe more, but not that much more} new animations.. Polished turd, yes. Then on top of that other companies try to fix a LONG list problems. Not just 5-8 issues and in NCAA and Madden's case about 1-3 issues a year.

I can prove this by how the game plays and actually listening to what these guys say every year.

Graphics does not make a game good BTW but if you are making a SIM game then your animations should be taken directly for the game correct? EA's Football games still don't have running correct.... How in the h@ll the running isn't correct...???? When you have a basic thing like running wrong IDK you are heading in the wrong direction...

      But thats not it.

You ever notice how unrealistic the O line is? Did you notice the Zig Zag running? Don't you think we should have 4-6 man tackles by now. Did you notice no DB and WR interactions when the ball is in the air just to name "very" few addition that should be in next gen football games by now? Oh but thats asking for too much right?

Do yourself a favor (seriously no joke nor a diss) but play All Pro Football. you can find it for $1-$3 and just take your time and try to understand that game its so shows you how much NCAA and Madden is missing when comes to "football". Want real presentation play NFL 2k5 its about $1. Real halftime show and WEEKLY Sports CENTER HIGHLIGHTS from ALL the games that week and this was on xbox and ps2 LAST GEN and you telling me EA can't give us something better than that with the POWERFUL PS3 and great XBOX 360 but we get worse presentation AND gameplay that is not true to football.

      WoW.

      Not opinion just facts

How do you feel about NCAA and Madden now?

Re: NCAA Football 13 Sights and Sounds Details with Video and Screenshots

I tend to be more amazed (in a good way) on how well NCAA plays, or any Football game for that matter. Being a programmer (granted not one at the level these guys are) I couldn't imagine trying to get 22 different objects to interact with each other 100's of times over a game ... especially in a game as complex as football has become.

Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer wouldn't be half the task.

On the topic of this blog, though ... I'm liking the improvements to the things they are spotlighting. If the sounds during the game are more realistic, that will go a long ways in improving the "feel" of the game. It was a little discouraging to not get a mention or demo of the crowd reacting more appropriately at the right times, though.

A lot of that sounds like the usual bitching opinions. Also, I enjoyed NCAA and Madden. Don't buy it.

My gripe is that they did it pretty well ten years ago on a much less powerful machine. This is 2012, we should NOT have a game that plays less realistic than in 2003.

How come we can't have the camera angles that was shown in the scene over the army football stadium? (the guy parachuted down). I want to see the whole field. Just look at Fifa 12 or Super Techmo Bowl. You can see the whole field and make out the direction of each player. Why can't next gen have what old gen had but better? Have a great day.

When I play NCAA and Madden, I'm actually fairly pleased with the gameplay. Are there are many areas where they can improve? Sure. But their gameplay actually made a lot of improvements from 11 to 12 and actually closed the gap on NBA 2K and The Show, in my opinion.

I actually still own 2K5. I popped it in during the "great Madden franchise freeze of '08" and it didn't do anything for me.
I've never had any desire to play with fake players, so I honestly don't care if APF played the best game of football ever, it doesn't appeal to me.

Hell, you don't know if it's an older build of the game and they're waiting until the 17th to show off the razzle dazzle.

You're honestly going to let 3 seconds of gameplay decide if you pick up the game or not?

Pathetic. Some of you are damn right pathetic.

Wait until the 17th, then you can judge

Edit: Also, i'd like to point out, NCAA 12 is a BEAUTIFUL game... Graphically. it's top notch..i don't mind the graphics being the same at all to be honest.
We have legitimate right to be this judgemental given that the game has been complete trash for years.

NBA 2K12 did talk about game play early on, but only for the PS Move. Other than that they released their info on the commentary team, intros, Greatest Mode and the soundtrack before getting into game play.

FIFA actually did talk about improved A.I. before almost anything else. So at least they're bucking the trend. It seems like NCAA is par for the course with most all other sports games though.
A huge difference is that all 3 of those games are outstanding compared to NCAA.

So they added new trophies and commentary, but every poster in here is pissed about the gameplay?

In the clip showing UMass and Ohio, you can see the end zone in the background is the "pro generic" end zone (left side of pic), with entrances covered by tarps, boxy-looking buildings above the seating area, and the latticework support structure for the scoreboard.

Probably right, they probably would have told us if they added their stadium. Don't see how hard it would be to port over Gillette from Madden, but apparently it is.

Well let's see, the exact same thing was a premier feature in NCAA 12 and NCAA 11. The big back of the box feature for 12 was "feel the true emotion of college football with new, authentic pre-game traditions." First update we get for NCAA 13; more entrances and now cheerleaders on the field (2 1/2 weeks of dev time). It is very clear where the development team's focus is.

These things are all great, but they are the things you do when all the other things are fixed or improved.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Sights and Sounds Details with Video and Screenshots

All of you who continue to add "stop complaining, it's just one video" comments to this and other threads seem to be missing a lot of the points people are making. A lot of the things that were featured in the videos are things that make very little difference in the game and barring incredible improvement, fail to accomplish what EA wants, which is to capture the emotion of college football.

This game doesn't need new cut scenes, it needs to make the cut scenes more streamlined so they flow with the game better. You're lying if you say you didn't reach a point where you X through cut scenes in this game right now.

This game doesn't need cheerleaders dancing on the field, it needs cheerleaders, media, staff and players rendered in 3D and moving on the sideline in a manner consistent with football at ANY level.

Real time lighting and moving clouds is an amazing feature, it will look gorgeous. But every online game is a day game and most OD games never get to night.

3D Menus, are you kidding me? The menus they have already suffer from some of the most horrendous lag I've ever encountered in a video game.

More often than not, EA is working on features that are 10 lines down the checklist before they even finished step 1. Yeah, these things are all unique and cool but not a single one of them is all that effective when they fail to address the basics that are still very much lacking.

Who knows, maybe they have for NCAA 13 and they fixed the basic things and are adding new things into the game to make it more realistic. If so, this could be a downright amazing game. But excuse me if I don't get my hopes up because most of these problems have been in the game for a few cycles now.

Again, these things they are doing all sound and look great so far. I love the new approach to crowd audio and from the sound of it, commentary is really turning a corner. That is truly wonderful. However, it remains very clear that they don't understand the inherent problems that plague the very features they tout. The game needs to be LESS fragmented, not more fragmented.
