Auto Sprint on. I just feel like the AI shouldn't be in the backfield as soon as I snap the ball. Often times a defender will run directly to the HB like they know it's an option.

It's good to hear at least someone is having moderate success.

EDIT: Of course as soon as I type this I score a TD on an option pitch

The crowd noise is better but not quite there yet. They pop very nicely, and have pretty good anticipation, but I feel they should be louder in general. I want a little more excitement for the opening kickoff of Miami-FSU, you know?

Chants are better, though. Finally have the "ohhhh c-a-n-e-s canes!" chant in the game.

I noticed during the updates in the demo, so out of curiosity I decided to sim a few weeks and see what the completion percentages looked like.

Here the NCAA leaders are in Week 8

        Kansas St #7 - 67%
        Arkansas #8 - 66
        TCU #4 - 64
        NC State #8 - 64
        Georgia #11 - 64
        Washington #17 - 63

Overall there are no QB's who have completed over 70% of their passes and only ten QB's with a completion % of 60

In comparison to real life there were eight QB's who completed more than 70% of their passes and 56 who completed 60+.

I'd say that this needs to be looked at.

Something I noticed that may be small but really bugs me is that players aren't wearing their visors during regular game play. You can only see the visor when you zoom right in in replay mode or during cutscenes. This wasn't the case last year when you could clearly see who had visors and who didn't.

                          LOL okay.

Anyway, like I said, they pop nicely, but need more sustained roars. The pop fades a little too quickly.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Impressions Thread

CPU clock management is pretty poor. Game tied, I'm milking the clock to set up the game winning FG, the CPU don't use any of their time outs at all to stop the clock.

Speaking of the game winning FG, the commentary on it left me feel like I did nothing at all. No excitement from them what so ever. And instead of Brad saying they win the game or he just won the game for them, he says he just gave them the lead. WTF ???? There is no time left on the clock, game is over.

But despite that......sexy scrambling QBs more then make up for the bad commentary.

Games are pretty realistic scoring in coach mode too. Last year it was a shoot out with scores in the 40s and 50s. This year in the 20s and some time under 14 points. My game between 2 option teams was a battle of the FG.

So yeah, I'm pretty happy, I can enjoy coach mode with realistic stats.

One thing I have noticed though is the lack of SACKS by CPU DEs. Pass rush slider at 75......no sacks from DEs. But I probably can fix that with ratings changes.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Impressions Thread

And now people are understanding why no one posted early impressions even though quite a few of us have had the game going on almost a week now.

There really is no other way to sum up this game other than its probably one of, if not the worst, NCAA of all time.

I am quite sure there are good things in the game, its just that there are so many terrible things going on that it covers up anything good that may be going on.

                              Offense-

Almost never any blocking for a running game except between the tackles...which usually leads to at least a 5-10 yrd gain.

Half the time when you run the option against the CPU, the DBs literally do not move...not one inch even. They turn to stone and never flinch or move. Sometimes they actually backpedal out of bounds to avoid you, and only turn once you have passed them and then they try to pursue you.

If the CPU is running an option attack, its a complete busted play 95% of the time. Either the QB takes a sack of 5+ yrds or more, or he pitches right to your defensive player for an easy pick 6.

Any screen play run by the CPU is also a loss on darn near every play.

Kick and punt returns by the CPU run straight up the middle, everytime. They dont try to avoid a tackle, they dont spin or stiffarm, they dont juke....just straight run into a brick wall.

                              Defense -

CPU refuses to cover any player deep. Most of the time at least 1 of your guys will be completely wide open without a DB in sight for an easy touchdown. Its like there is some kind of programming logic that tells the CPU not to cover any deep routes.

CPU defense of the option- Many times the DBs will just stand in place and not move, not engage in a tackle, not take on a block...but just stand there like a rock and watch you run right by without so much as a twitch to stop you.

                              Graphics -

Some stadiums look great, while others look like something from the PS1 era. Play at Florida Atlantic and it looks like their stadium was built with a $10 set of Legos, its downright ugly. I dont know what the issue is, but some fields and stadiums are brillant, while others were put together with mario paint.

Commentary - Im sure there are some new lines, but they arent very noticeable. The Davis updates are a nice addition. Commentary makes no sense sometimes. You can run for 200 yards, but they are talking about your passing attack even though you havent thrown the ball more than 3x in the game. Player of the games are still messed up with some people getting the player of the game highlight with a stat line that consists of only 1 tackle...while your RB had 140 yards and 3 TDs....sometimes its right, others make no sense. Ive tried to duplicate the result but it seems to be completely random.

Recruiting is nothing more than the same thing as the previous umpteen years just with a new graphical overhaul, but the same mechanics underneath. Hooray, you can hit the scout button now and see their stats.

Overall, Im sure there are some great things in this game that I am missing out on noticing much because the bad things that exsist are so bad, that you miss most of the good.

The catching and throwing animations are nice and a much welcome addition, but it came at a cost of removing the entire AI from the game.

Probably the worst NCAA that I can remember playing, and Ive played since Bill Walsh. With seeing how good other sports franchises are going, there is just no excuse for this mess we got this year.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Impressions Thread

Just finished my second game, FSU at Miami. Won 21-17, this time on Heisman. Saw 2 more busted zones which resulted in long tds. I had 230 yards of offense and only 4 first downs, so lots of big plays for me. EJ Manuel picked me apart, and their running game was beastly. I sacked EJ on 4th and 8 from my own 15 to preserve the victory.

Some AI issues definitely need to be cleaned up, but it's a very good game. Want to get 1 more in tonight.
