Best recruit I have found so far is an ATH that was rated 80 overall. Why was he the best though?

    90 speed
    89 acceleration
    80 catch
    89 spec catch
    83 trucking
    79 elusive
    80 break tackle
    90 throw power
    83 throw accuracy

He is literally interchangeable at any skill position on offense.

Need a HB sure 80 rated freshman HB, need a WR? Why not an 81 overall WR. Qb just graduated? Take this 80 overall super agile and accurate QB.

On NCAA14, mine would have to be Frank 'Boom Boom' Powell, an ATH who came in around 80 overall in my Wyoming dynasty. He's 6'1 225lbs, has around 85 at all pass covering ratings, including press, currently is a 94 ovr WR his junior year. He has 99 elusiveness, 94 speed, high agility and move ratings, obviously high catching. So we have here a really good receiver and defensive back.. not bad! Those are a dime a dozen though.. what makes 'Boom Boom Powell' special is that he can pass! Came in as a freshman with 89 throw power and 80 accuracy!

He has played the following positions for my team since his first game:

      Starting Wide Receiver
      Nickel Cornerback
      Holder
      Kick Returner
      Punt Returner
      Backup QB

He does tire out and have to miss a play or 2, but he has 90+ stamina so most of the time he is good to go. Sometimes he will return a kick.. then catch a touchdown pass.. hold the extra point.. and make the tackle on special teams.. then swat down a pass on defense! He is unbelievable!

Recruiting has become super easy and I get pretty much the same players every year.
This. Don't get me wrong, I really like a lot of things about the new recruiting. But I don't understand some of the ratings for 4 and 5* ATH, and why these players are often neglected by the major programs. It's almost like the CPU schools are programmed to recruit "needs", and obviously, an ATH doesn't address a need unless you figure out where he's going to play.

It strikes me as absurd how accurate some of these ATH quarterbacks are. If you really had all the physical tools that these guys have as freshman, AND you were like an 89 THP/80 THA, wouldn't you just be a 5* QB recruit?

I'm recruiting with 3-star prestige SMU. I didn't have a serious need for a QB, but I looked around. I had only tepid interest from a few 3* QB's, and they had pass ratings of like 77/72 or something. Then I checked ATH and there were probably a dozen guys with better passing ratings that weren't touched. It sort of breaks an otherwise good system of recruiting.

As South Alabama, in year 1 I snagged a 5* ATH... in year 2 he starts at QB even tho his ovr (78) is 2 points lower than a RS Senior (80) (due to low awareness) and he's also my #3 CB where i believe he is around.. 70-72 ovr?

            BEAST!!!
Lead us to a 7-6 season his freshman year...and that is as far as i have simmed (i'm just recruiting and simming)

Actually the game has projected positions set for each ATH, you can tell when it shows that they committed or that they are ready for a visit etc. I would assume that the CPU teams know of the position, and use that to determine if the recruit would fill a need or not.

Re: Best Recruit(s) You've Gotten so Far

Instead of looking at the prestige of a program when seeing who they signed, keep in mind that recruits are focused on who best fits their top three criteria.

If you're a 1* program and are close to home, perfect for playing style, and offer playing time then you're going to get a ton of bonus points in recruiting -- assuming that is what the player wants.

Not every recruits cares about program prestige. Ole Miss just nailed a huge class recently in real life, and it happens on a year basis to varying degrees. Program prestige is important, but each recruit/player has their own top-3 that matters more than how good or bad your actual team is now.

The more I test my strategy I posted the more it seems to work I did a 2 season test with Auburn and was terrible both years not even getting to a bowl game. I was also using a created coach and didnt that many skill upgrades. I was able to get top 5 classes and this was without the untargted 4 and 5* guys. I may have to do some in house rules when it comes to the 5* guys that nobody recruits.

I love how half the posts on the last page described exactly what I was saying. There will always be one (or more) ATH that is a 78-81 OVR, 86-90 SPD, good throwing, good catching, and good running back qualities. Kinda ruins it when you can recruit the same player each year.

Not rated the highest but best production Freshman year has been from a 3* QB from Sioux Falls, South Dakota named Garrick Ostrowski 6'5" 212lbs
                        74 OVR 84 Speed 81 Agility 87 Acc 74 THP 71 Accuracy

So far in 5 games has ran for 942 yards (188ypg) all simmed on Heisman as Western Michigan. Ridiculous I know. 2-3 record.

                          The problems I see are:

                          - Top recruits not being recruited
                          - The main priorities for the top recruits should be recent success(National Championship or BCS game) and location. Most guys want to play for the popular and nationally recognized teams and stay relatively close to home.
                          - Smaller schools should get lets points, almost like a budget
                          - Athletes rated too high at too many positions, good athletes should be rated in low to mid 70's at multiple positions
                          - Hide the overalls
                          - Recruits should be rated lower in general
                          - Varying levels of progression, like Madden's potential rating, A guy could come in as 80 and leave as 84, while another guy could come in as 70 and leave as 90 (this could simulate high profile bust players, which may allow power programs to struggle for a year or two until they find another player or change the scheme around to compensate)

In my OD, as Texas State, I found a 3* ATH who was 6'7" and weighed 230 lbs with the following stats:

                            Speed: 90
                            ACC: 82
                            Agility: 82
                            Jump: 76
                            Tackle: 72
                            Hit Power: 60
                            Man: 75
                            Zone: 80
                            Press: 70
                            Catch: 77
                            Spectacular Catch: 78
                            Catch In Traffic: 76
                            Route Run: 83
                            Release: 77
                            BC Vision: 82
                            Break Tackle: 69
                            Spin: 67
                            Stiff Arm: 53

We haven't started Year 2 yet, but he'll be a 78 OVR at FS and WR, and I think he was a 75 OVR at SS and CB

He could honestly start for my Texas State team at both FS and WR. I'm thinking he may get some snaps at WR in 4/5 wide sets and will start at FS.
I just think its going to be nuts to see my 6'7" 230 FS running around.

I would to make him a Clowney type DE but his Power/Finess/Strength are all horrible. I also thought about a move to tight end but I haven't seen his blocking state yet. I'm guessing they'll be low with his low strength rating. However, Its never bad to have a guy that big who can run.

I wish I was seeing all these awesome recruits going unsigned. I checked my online dynasty and every single one of the top 100 were signed somewhere.

my best signing so far is a 71 overall athlete at toledo. in and of itself that's not impressive but at 4-2 thus far he has 1031 yards rushing only 400 yards passing and 15 total touchdowns he's averaging close to 9 yards per carry and leads the nation in rushing.

I'm in the hunt for the top wr in the nation and falling further behind each week

With my first year with NC State I landed an 81 overall QB who was the #5 QB in the nation. This current year I landed the #1 wide receiver in the nation. He was a 79 overall I believe.
