Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
It sounds like it n order to get the best sim experience, it's best to play longer quarters. That has to mean accelerated clock is in too right? To play 15 minute quarters with a regular play clock would take forever, as well as scoring would be out of hand."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Tags: None -
Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
Im looking forward to seeing how the game plays fresh out of the box for about a month, and then I'll be getting into sliders etc. Hopefully we'll have even more to play around with to tune the game towards the best sim experience -

Originally posted by Ghost Of The YearI can't play for less than 15 minute quarters in football no more than I could play a 5 inning baseball game, so the key for me is to get the difficulty level and all sliders dialed in just right. Though a great thing about college football is it isn't unrealistic to go unbeaten and dominating your opponents in the process whereas in baseball if I won 75% of my games, I would quit the season and start again with a harder sliders setting. I'm also not opposed to accelerated clocks but I usually don't mind playing Madden with accelerated clocks OFF, if I have time to play a drawn out game.
With Madden, I do 90% Spectator Mode and 10% actually playing. So, I've always done 15 minute quarters with accelerated clock set at 12 seconds. I see myself playing the college game a whole lot more than I did Madden, and I want to play 15 minute quarters. So, having the accelerated clock feature will be key."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
Yes I would like to think it would but I also wouldnt overdue it.
I am going to start with 8 minute quarters and see if thats close to realistic, thats what im aiming for. The Wear and Tear system adds an interesting dynamic to this, I heard longer quarters affect players more than shorter quarters so thats something to keep in mind.My Teams:

Exactly my thought. If we have @jkits on sliders we will definitely get the most realistic simulation college football experience that this game can provide.

This statement really interests me. I have always worried that if I played a full game, the final score I would score 80-100 points. If it is true that you get more balanced play with full quarters I am definitely going to be trying that.DSM Transfer.

Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
I'm curious as well.
Been quite a while since I played NCAA or Madden - but I used to play 7 or 8 min qtrs with accelerated clock and I got a realistic number of plays in. I know nothing about play call limits and cool downs... not familiar with them... might need to google.Comment

Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
That's what I do. 10 minute quarters gets you in the 140 -- 150 total plays area (kickoffs, punts, field goals, runs, and passes for both teams). Last year's Oregon -- Liberty game had 138 plays, which is the lowest number of plays in the NY6 / playoffs last season. I believe Ole Miss -- Pen State had the most plays (164).Comment

Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
This past Madden I did 11 min quarters with some version of accelerated clock that I found from this site.
The latest madden (not sure how new) had a awesome setting where you can pick the max amount of times you can call a play (play limit). It also had a cool down so a certain amount of plays had to be called before you could call it again. People can still abuse it in a online setting if they want as similar plays can be found in other formations. It was useful for me offline especially on defense.
I'm curious as well.

Re: Playing Longer Quarters Equals Better Sim Experience?
In Madden I was getting realistic scores and statistics using 14 minute quarters with accelerated playclock that goes down to 20 seconds. I'll use that as a baseline when I start EASCF but I'll definitely be adjusting it to fit college pace.Comment
