Now, in CFB 25, at one point, I felt that no play really felt overpowered except maybe Jet Sweeps, but I don't run this.

I really like the HB Toss (I know there are a few of them) and HB Stretch (yes, a few of them too). I have a great RB and a pretty good offensive line especially on the right side. I move the TE over to the side that my RB is running to for extra blocking. My RB is getting a ton of yards each game, but we are playing a lot of Mountain West teams. Could be a different story against, say Texas or Bama. I am not complaining about this success at all. I am using Armor & Sword's Average Joe Varsity sliders.

Any chance these two RB plays are overpowered? Any of you had that thought?
I don't know that I would say Stretch and Toss are overpowered. I get stopped plenty of times behind the line using those in my Online Dynasty on All-American.

I will say I have been really disappointed with the lack of effectiveness of pulling plays, though. Sweeps, powers, traps, and counters with linemen pulling don't seem to be worth a damn now.

By the time the linemen get to their kickouts, the play is either blown up because I waited on them, or I have beat them to the hole, even without sprinting.

I was an NCAA nut all the way back to the Bill Walsh CFB days on SNES, and haven't had a console since they discontinued NCAA after 2014, so I haven't played any Madden on PS4 or PS5 at all before this game launched. These have always been decent plays.

Now I find direct runs (inside/outside zone, duo, iso, etc.) all much more effective.

I’ve had a ton of luck with power and trap. Wide trap is my favorite play to run. I’d agree about counter though. I’ve had 0 luck with it unless out of wildcat where the fake jet animation forces you to wait for the kick and wrap blocks.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I added a new formation with some plays to my Custom Offensive Playbook, and they are not appearing in Practice Mode or in Game. Is there a fix for this?

My roommate is running the singleback tight is think is the formation. It's one TE and WR on each side. TEs off the line of scrimmage and the WRs on it. He runs the HB Stretch and Dive out of it. The Stretch can be flipped to either side without shifting due to the alignment and he has had great success with it. Only draw back is there's no good Passing plays out of the formation unless you hot route a lot of players.

Me personally, I love the speed option and HB Stretch in Pistol Train. I can switch between them and a dive at ease and I can audible to a slants or verticals play.

Which formation? It might be named differently in your playbook while in use. I have had some get labeled as a Pistol or Shotgun formation due to the game and how it lists them.

only just started messing with the custom Playbook in CF25. really miss the ability to order the formations and plays in the order I want. hopefully they can implement that for CF26.

made an interesting playbook. mix of Singleback, pistol, and shotgun, mostly the same formations for each, just under center, pistol and shotgun. Also added a couple of shotgun split back formations. Still in the process of going through all the plays and adding star ratings and looking through other formations to see if I want to add more or not.

                Gun Bunch Quads
                Gun Spread

They were the two most recent formations I added to my custom playbook. I was able to add them, but I am maxed out from adding plays after I did that. But I was able to save those formations/plays. I can see them checked/saved when I go into Custom Playbooks, but I don't see them during games or practice. I did check all of the other Gun formations during practice/game to see if those formations were there under another name, but no luck.

FYI I resolved the issue. Apparently, you cannot have more than 30 sets in one formation during practice/game play. You can add more than 30 sets to a formation in your Custom Playbook, but only 30 of those sets will appear during practice/games.

I had 32 sets in the Shotgun formation in my Custom Playbook. 2 of the sets not appearing during practice/games were sets that I manually added to the playbook and wanted to use. In order to get those 2 sets to appear in practice/games, I had to remove 2 sets from the Shotgun formation that I no longer wanted in my playbook. Then I had to remove the 2 sets that weren't appearing, then add them back in. That resolved the issue.

Figured I would share this in case anyone else ran into this issue.

Would anyone be interested in a motion-heavy and Read RPO-heavy playbook? I wouldn't say it's perfectly realistic but basically I filtered through to try and get as much motion and quick hitters into a playbook (along with plenty of deep shots) as possible to just try and "modernize" some of the shotgun/pro styles in the college game that don't rely heavily on Wide formations (so the Tennessee squads of the world this isn't really about). I also didn't include any Glance RPOs because the read/pass options on those are either sort of OP or just lead to too many illegal man downfield penalties still (same reason using Wake Forest is still tricky).

As much as I love the playbooks this year, there's just not enough built-in motion to most playbooks still, perhaps in part because it can be OP I would imagine. So instead of having to send guys in motion, wait for them to stop, and then call hike, I went through and just did the work of finding what's at least available and added that -- I also tried to include most of the sprintout plays because I think this is another part not utilized enough quite yet by the game but happens more with tons more small but athletic QBs roaming around the college game (and pro honestly).

Anyway I didn't rate many plays etc. so you'd need to tweak it and such for Coach Suggestions, and there's probably too many diff shotgun looks, but I think it's fun to mess with and could serve as a base if anything.

                    ------------

It's now up: I'm on PS5, it's called MotionRPOHeavy and my PSN is ChucklesBiscotti.

Yes! This is exactly how I set up my playbook and it's very fun!

Some of my favorite formations with built-in motion:

                            Pistol
                            Spread
                            Strong Slot Open
                            Weak Slot Open

                            Shotgun
                            Bunch Quads
Bunch Str Offset - Return RPO Alert Flat is one of my favorite RPOs in the game, MTN Stick is great for getting a TE or WR open for short yardage passes
                            Doubles Offset Wk
Split Slot Open - great HB motion to either side for screens, and a double pass trick play
                            Spread-Y Slot
                            Trips X Nasty

                              helpful feature.. it's

                              Bears Offense
Shotgun Y Off Trips - HB Direct Snap

formation/set might be called something slightly different inside custom playbook creation

A complete and searchable list of all unique plays in EA Sports College Football 25.

college and pro playbooks are pretty similar.. but that is the college one
