I inadvertently have an online solo dynasty that I could've sworn was offline...anyway I'm glad I do because I didn't have any scoreboard glitches last night. Didn't see any of the new ones actually. It has it's down side too though I think people have lost their saves on Madden in the past. I could be wrong though.

Well except that weird one where once in a blue moon my player won't move on the snap unless I switch to another player...but I don't think that's strictly dynasty.

That’s why I’m willing to give EA some grace. In my line of work, every time we fix something we brake 2 or more working features. As expected, there’s no way they could patch or add additional features without breaking the game. They need to go small. At this point, as long the AI stop assigning my QB #20, I’m willing to move forward.

Most people around these parts say servers being down haven’t been much of an issue over the years so fingers crossed. Who knows, maybe online might be what I need to. Maybe there might be some infrequent server maintenance events happening to keep me from staying up so late at night playing!

They’re EA. They have pull. They could get a patch fast tracked. But so far they haven’t even said they’ll do that. I’ve never been this disappointed in a dev team.
Just because they are EA doesn't necessarily mean they can "fast track" a patch. Sony/MS prolly makes everyone go through a certification process that requires time for approval. The dev team would have no say on the certification process.

This would also explain why "they haven’t even said they’ll do that".

I swear some people are clueless...

Rightfully so. Look at all the little things overlooked by EA developers. Sony and MS shouldn’t make any exceptions for EA. December is my expectation of when this game will be acceptable to most of us. In retrospect, I wish I could’ve skipped the patch

You do not need to scrap anything if you are playing offline.

What you do need to do until EA Sports releases their next title update is avoid the Scheme & Playbook screen entirely (there are other ways to change your playbook which do not involve this screen), and also be willing to wait to change players' positions until they have been on your roster for one full season.

Sure, breaking this is part of software, I see this too. But there's gotta be a big test pass done on every update, and it's wild to me that some of these things aren't included:
                1. Play a game and kick a field goal (notice all the pre-snap movement weirdness they added).
                2. Play a season, recruit athletes, and change their position in the offseason.
                3. Play a game, view play pre-snap, notice scorebug disappears.

These are core systems that just weren't tested before the patch was released. It's like they aren't doing test passes and everything is ad-hoc.

That was basically a 24 hour turnaround for the online patch, kudos to EA. I get that people are upset that there were any bugs introduced with the patch.

I work at a software company, guess what? ALL SOFTWARE HAS BUGS. Get used to it.

I'm happy that they patched at least online franchises and this will be included in the next full title update.

I wish I could roll back the patch, because now I basically can’t play this weekend, the only time I get to play, since I have an ATH heavy class coming in and I don’t want to wreck them.

And I can’t even go in and fix their ratings if I position change them in-season. And people who lose their dynasty save basically because they changed their scheme and borked their team can’t either. So when people wonder why we need ratings editing, remember that EA is inevitably going to EA.

There isn’t that much you do in the game. Had they had anyone go through and test the patch in dynasty they would’ve caught most of these problems. EA just cannot stop tripping over themselves.
It’s really simple, you have a list of the changes and you go in and test just those changes. That’s how most QA processes work because the goal is to make sure the intended fixes are working as expected. If you get to test additional pieces as well, then even better.

Also the constant push and complaining from consumers that a patch needed to be out ASAP rushes the process when they should actually take their time and just communicate that they need to do more testing.

A few of these I don’t know how they missed, like the scoreboard one. But a bunch of others around recruiting make sense since the fixes weren’t supposed to touch those screens so I doubt any testing went on there, hence the issues. They are pretty specific screens and recruiting wasn’t really touched so testing wouldn’t have caught it.

Source: I work for a software company. I don’t usually do testing, but on big releases I sometimes help with it. Missing “simple” things is much easier than most people would think. It’s probably easier to miss those than the detailed parts because there is an assumption that it wouldn’t break and should work fine, but that’s sometimes not the case. With more time for testing, they should catch almost all of these bugs, but it was rushed out.

A few bugs I've seen post patch. Maybe they were there before and didn't see it:

1.) Players getting wear and tear even when turned off in settings (online dynasty).

2.) Physical traits not unlocking even though minimum rating has been met or even passed (online dynasty)

3.) Still getting a lot of false starts as I audible and hot route (online dynasty, user vs user games, Heisman)

4.) Still getting 1 or 2 roughing the punter penalties per game. Roughing kicker is rarer but still too often (online dynasty, user vs user, Heisman)

                        Re: Maintenance Update from devs

It's a newly launched title. There were unquestionably going to be bugs and broken things that were going to need to be worked out. This is how video games are made now and have been for almost a decade. No Man's Sky was half of what it is now when it launched. Cyberpunk was a disaster at launch and now people LOVE it. I agree it stinks and we should get complete releases at launch! But we don't, and it's not going to change.

Obviously I'm not thrilled that I'll have to restart an offline dynasty. It's also not the end of the world and for a game that's one month old, I can't say I'm surprised or disappointed. EA launches have historically been disastrous (NBA Elite, NHL 15), this isn't a disaster. This is predictable. If you expected anything else that's on you for not realistically adjusting your expectations.

Some of you all need real problems because the level of dramatic energy you're bringing to this is outrageous lol.

So my recruiting class last night didn't have any of the freshman in position change...which obviously is a big bug we know about...but what's odd is I'm not getting the score board bug or any of the other bugs post patch. I had assumed I made and online solo and so I got hot fixed...but then had the other glitch. Will be interesting to see after this season if the position change fix carries over or gets actually fixed.

Anyway Tennessee wins the Citrus Bowl to finish 9-4! Brought in the number 6 class in the country, really had a shot at a top 5 class but lost steam in the portal and missed 3-4 4 star recruits. Had to scramble back and convince some higher rated 3 stars to give us a shot. Going into our 2029 season we're starting ranked 23rd in the country. Tough schedule like always Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina (who is good because I built them as OC before Tennessee) all top 15 ranked conference opponents. On top of that I got a Week 0 game against Navy and I have to travel to Happy Valley to face the number 2 ranked Nittany Lions.

We're hoping to build on our previous 8-4 season but things aren't going to be easy!
