I beat WVU 41-28 to stay at #3 in the BCS rankings behind #1 Alabama and #2 Ohio State. But in the process I lost my best CB Carrington Byndom for the rest of the season with a Torn Shoulder.

My next matchup is at home versus #22 Oklahoma State who was #11 last week but got upset by Kansas.

      Top 5 BCS Standings

      1. Alabama 9-0
      2. Ohio State 9-0
      3. Texas (me) 9-0
      4. Louisville 9-0
      5. Oklahoma 8-1

        Spoiler
The regular season is over, and your Marshall Thundering Herd are headed to Lafayette, Louisiana to play in a rematch against the Ragin' Cajuns in the C-USA championship game. Marshall's only conference loss of the season came at the hands of this UL Lafayette squad, so do not be surprised to see the Herd players extremely pumped up at a chance for revenge! Also, if Marshall wins this game, it would mean two C-USA titles in as many years for the Herd.

Senior Kevin Grooms has had a remarkable season at running back, rushing for 2,361 yards and 20 TD's on 429 attempts (5.5 yards per carry) and catching 24 passes for 214 yards and 3 TD's. As of right now he leads the Heisman race and looks poised to be the first Marshall player ever to win the award.

Marshall put together a fantastic run winning the last four games, three of which were on the road, to reach the conference championship. The Thundering Herd hope to bust their way into a BCS bowl, but know that it is unlikely as they have 2 losses (10-2; loss vs WVU at MetLife Stadium, and at UL Lafayette) and are only ranked 21st in the BCS rankings. However this season has been a huge success already (10 wins and a possible Heisman winner) so anything more would just be icing on the cake.

Coach Martin continues to bring in talent for the Herd to have in the future, as they have added 4 more prospects to the 2016 class since week 11.

        Spoiler

DeShawn Stevens made his college decision and committed to Wisconsin! The (custom made) 3* 94 overall JUCO Junior QB, is going to be a Badger, and could very well put Wisconsin into championship contention in 2016 and 2017.

Re: How is your dynasty going

Decided to get another game in from my Kent State dynasty.

Game 2: Kent State vs. Bowling Green

The Golden Flashes looked to kick off MAC play by facing off against Bowling Green. We came into this game confident in our abilities to run the football after that outstanding display in Game 1, but Bowling Green showed us we were a little overconfident.

To say Bowling Green had my play-calling number would be an understatement. I couldn't get a single thing going. They destroyed my running game early, and even though I completed some passes, I was getting very little yardage.

Bowling Green went up 10-3 early, and it pretty much stayed that way until the 3rd quarter... when I got it to 10-9.

With about 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, I FINALLY changed my gameplan. We sped up the tempo, and threw it all over the field. That's when the game changed. We drove straight down the field and scored a go-ahead touchdown to make it 15-10.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't be that easy, Bowling Green drove right down the field to make it 16-15.

With my new gameplan, though, I didn't waver. We got the ball back in good position, drove right down the field, and got a game-winning touchdown from Trayion Durham.

Final Score: 21-16 Kent State wins!

          Highlights from the game:

          <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/oFUdFNpni1o" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>

          Stats from the game:

          QB David Fisher - 22/33, 264 yards, 1 INT
HB Dri Archer - 16 carries, 59 yards
HB Trayion Durham - 15 carries, 58 yards, 1 TD
WR Josh Boyle - 6 catches, 72 yards

With this win, the Golden Flashes go to 2-0 (1-0 in conference). Next week is a HUGE test as we travel to Tiger Stadium to take on LSU.

              Previous post.

Haven't played a game as the WSU head coach. But I will post up the new conferences. To show who is in each one now after three years of moves. Which can be seen in the previous post.

Was trying to use and modify one of the OS tables, but none were fitting the way I wanted to. But here it is in a non fancy form. And sorry for the carp images.

I'll post up more pre season and season info later this week. Really looking forward to struggling with the Cougs.

Heck of a win Bleedgreen, I just had basically the exact opposite happen to me in mine...

2014 Season Review - OC Florida Gators

After an 8-5 (bowl win) first year I was on the hotseat and had to turn things around or face finding a new job, and the Gators came started the season on fire and after a few close scares were able to finish 12-0 and earn a spot in the SEC Championship game.

The SEC Championship would be a rematch between the #9 LSU Tigers and the #2 Florida Gators. Early in the year the Gators avenged their 2013 OT loss with a 52-13 rout of the Tigers, but the rematch would turn into a physical defensive battle as late in the 4th the Gators were down 7-6 and had to drive 60 yards to get in FG. Eventually they were able to punch it in with under a minute to go and after a failed 2-point conversion took a 12-7 lead. LSU would turn it over on a desperate heave giving and the Gators became the 2014 SEC Champions.

A few weeks later the Gators traveled to Arizona to face off against the #1 OSU Buckeyes, the defending national champions. They took down Alabama in 2013 and were looking to repeat against another SEC foe.

A back and forth defensive game would once again see Florida needing to drive late in the 4th following OSU TD with only 3 minutes remaining.

Trailing 14-13 all they needed to do was kick a FG to win, but instead pushed it deep into the redzone and punched it in with 17 seconds remaining. After failing the 2-point conversion the Gators led 19-14 and were 17 seconds away from their 4th NC in school history.

Never good to celebrate before its over...

After a two dump-offs OSU was sitting on their 40 with 8 seconds to go when Braxton Miller found a WR deep on the sideline who toe-tapped his way to a first down on the Gator 25 with 1 second remaining. And this happened....

Maybe CPU will fire the DC... So close, so close. Maybe next year, maybe never.

Teddy Bridgewater wins the Heisman in 2014, Miller finish a few hundred votes shy of a repeat.

                2014 Florida Results

                SEC Championship

                #17 LSU W 12-7

                BCS National Championship

                #1 OSU Buckeyes L 22-19

                Ended the year ranked #4.

Got some really intriguing recruits coming in, headline by a 5* burner at WR. Got my QB of the future and an explosive 2-way player coming off redshirts. Currently the #3 recruiting class.

Got a 4-year contract extension, not sure if I want to accept it or just finish the last year of my current 3-year deal. Could go all in Flacco style. Might move to HC if the I see a job I can't pass up, gonna be hard with the recruits I got on O the first 2 years at UF to make a move.

Mizzou just hired DJ Durkin (UF DC) as HC. Might be good to stay and run it up on them next year.

Haha I know what you mean, and thanks for the compliment, I try and be a good commentator ..

After my WR scored the game winner he just trotted back to the sideline.. in real life he would have been mobbed by teammates! I was really disappointed when that happened.

Hawai'i came calling, and I answered.

Nice Uni's, big stadium, and full of names I can't pronounce.

1* with 1-11 and 2-10 records the last 2 years. 7 wins is their target. Hope I can turn it around quick, or it's going to be a short vacation.

Going to miss my recruits at UF, redshirted my first year guys and had some freshman starters in the 2nd class. Maybe I should sched... nah.

Big names fired in 2014 offseason include Rich Rod, Bill O'Brien, and Bret Bielema.

Wyoming has announced 3 new Hall of Fame inductees:

                        SS Brian Carr 6'4 197lbs

                        255 Total Tackles, 21 TFL, 4 Sacks, 13 INT, 26 Deflections, 1 FF, 1 FR, 2 Safetys, 4 TDs

Info: Starter and leader of the defense for 4 seasons, hardest hitter in the nation, had hands of glue. A truly 'dominant' defensive player.

Coach K on Brian Carr: Brian was a true game changer on defense. He could be counted on to deliver a big hit at least once every drive. This guy just absolutely laid out any ball carriers who came his way, it just became an automatic thing. Oh you are gonna run it at Brian Carr? Get ready to eat some turf! He also made several clutch interceptions and some were pretty spectacular. His height gave him a huge advantage on jump balls.

                        HB Lenny Suggs 5'11 201lbs

                        840 Attempts, 4566 Yards, 63 TDs, 117 Receptions, 1167 Yards, 6 TDs.

Info: Starter for 4 years, didn't have elite speed but was great at everything, including receiving.

Coach K on Lenny Suggs: Lenny was such a gifted athlete, he had a rare combination of power and agility that guys dream about. He didn't have elite speed, but he made up for it with his other skills. His excellent hands out of the backfield were key to our offenses success, and he could always be counted on to score touchdowns. I don't think any halfback can ever replace Lenny.

                        Holds Wyoming record for:

                        Rushing TD (Career) 63
                        Rushing TD (Season) 18
                        Rushing Yards (Career) 4566

                        QB Chris Ramsour 6'0 198lbs

                        620 Completions, 954 Attempts, 10284 Passing Yards, 99 TDs, 57 INT, 64% Completion Percentage, 310 Rushing Attempts, 1131 Yards, 20 TDs.

Info: Lead the offense for 4 successful years, including a National Championship his senior season. Elite speed for a QB, tough to bring down.

Coach K on Chris Ramsour: Ah.. Chris.. what a great 4 years its been with him at quarterback. He had some rough times through his career.. he threw a few too many interceptions sometimes.. but his play on the field was nothing short of brilliant. He could scramble for big yards on any given play, or kill the defense with read options by faking the handoff to Lenny Suggs. Chris rarely went down by the first defender, he had rare strength and break tackle ability for a quarterback, especially one with his speed. He will always be remembered here around campus for getting benched and then coming back in and throwing the hail mary to beat Texas and win the national championship, but the rest of his career deserves remembrance as well. He will be tough to replace.

                        Holds Wyoming record for:

                        Passing TD (Career) 99
                        Passing TD (Game) 7
                        Passing TD (Season) 45
                        Passing Yards (Career) 10284

Coach Gowen is a graduate of Temple University where he played and then later coached for Head Coach Al Golden. After spending several years as an Offensive Line position coach at Temple, Pitt, and Florida, Coach Gowen moved up the coaching ranks and became the Offensive Coordinator at Rutgers University. After being recruited heavily by Coach Golden to run his Miami Hurricane offense, Coach Gowen accepted the Coordinator position at Miami January 2013.
"Coach Gowen is one of the hardest working coaches that I have ever worked with, He has not changed on bit since I had him at Temple, He is still the first guy in the film room and the last to leave on a daily basis. I consider Coach Gowen to be one of the brightest, and most creative Offensive coaches in college football today. I cant tell you how happy I am that he finally joined us down here in Coral Gables, and cant wait to see what he does here at Miami with the talent that we recruited."

The 2013 Canes appear to be Golden's best and most experienced team since arriving on campus in 2011. Last year Golden was forced to play 16 true freshman for a number of reason; However, the progression of the team was clearly visible, by the end of last season the Canes where playing there best football. 18 starters from last years team are returning and the valuable playing experience many of the underclassmen received last year will certainly benefit the Canes against the teams that are just as talented.
                          OFFENSE
Miami averaged 31.4 points per game last season and is capable of much more. The arrival of new Offensive Coordinator Bobby Gowen and his creative offensive schemes and play call will give opposing defenses nightmares. During Spring Ball the impact that Gowen had on starting QB Stephen Morris was clear as day. Many of the issues Morris had that hindered the production of the offense at time appear to have been resolved. Morris dominated the spring game making quick decisions, he read the defense properly picking up the blitzes and adjusting the protection, and was deadly accurate throwing the football. All this despite not have two of his top receivers (WR) Phillip Dorsett and (TE) Clive Walford on the field. The Canes are returning six of their top eight pass catchers, which should make Gowen's passing game that much more dangerous. 2012 freshman All-American (HB) Duke Johnson returns to the starting lineup after putting up more that 2,000 all purpose yards as a freshman. The development of the passing game should really open things up for Johnson, who has big time play making ability and can take it to the house any time he has the ball in his hands. Perhaps the Hurricanes greatest offensive strength is their offensive line. The big boys up front are just that massive, and have the skill and experience to go along with their size. The group up front is very experienced, featuring three seniors and two juniors with a combined 94 career starts. With all the weapons the Canes have returning on offense, the massive road graders they have upfront, and one of the greatest offensive minds in all of college football calling the plays, The Miami Hurricanes are going to be an offensive juggernaut that will strike fear in the hearts of the defensive coordinators they face.
                          DEFENSE
The defense allowed 30 plus points in seven of 12 games last season and gave up at least 40 points three times. The two top tacklers from last season (LB) Denzel Perryman and (DE) Shayon Green-return, giving the Hurricanes a base to build on in 2013. The Spring game did not ease any of defensive cordinator Mark D'Onofrio's concerns, although he is still confident that the issues plauging the defense will be worked out before the Auguest 30th season opener against Florida Atlantic. D'Onofrio is counting on several returning players from last season including (DL) Olsen Pierre, (DL) Anthony Chickillo, (DL) Curtis Porter, (DE) Shayon Green, (LB) Denzel Perryman, (LB) Jimmy Gains, and (LB) Ralph Kirby to step up their games up and drastically improve his defense. The Hurricane defense created very few turnovers last season including only (5) interceptions from their Defensive Backs due to the lack of pass rush the where able to create up front. Last season the Canes collected only 13 sacks which was one of the lowest team sack totals amongst teams in major conferences. The lack of pass rush was not the only issue the front seven of the canes struggled with, They gave up 217.9 yards per game on the ground. As a whole the defense allowed 486.4 total yards a game. During the recruiting period the Canes focused heavily on improving their defense, and the coaches feel that many of the players they recruited will push the upper classmen. One of those key recruits (FR) Alex Figueroa is projected as the starting middle linebacker and expected to run the defense on the field for D'Onofrio. The lack of depth and experience will not make improving on last years defensive performance as easy task.

                          Bottom Line
The 2013 schedule is much more favorable then the schedule the Hurricanes Played in 2012. Instead of games away from south Florida against Kansas State, and Notre Dame, Miami will host Florida Atlantic and Savannah State. The second game of the season against in state rival the Florida Gators is a huge game for the Canes. Win and it could be the start of a special season and may return Miami to national prominence. But even with a loss to the Gators, Miami should still challenge for the ACC Title. Back to back games at Florida State and home against Virginia Tech in November can make or break the Hurricanes season. The success of this season relies solely on the shoulders of the defense, there is no doubt that the mighty Hurricane offense is gonna put up big offensive numbers and score a lot of points. Should games become a shoot out there are not many teams that can hang with the Canes offensively, but facing three potential top ten teams two of them being in state rivals the defense needs to step up and pull their weight or it will be a disappointing season for Al Golden and the Miami Hurricanes.

BleedGreen how many championships have u won with Wyoming? Also the part you mentioned about a long dynasty and seeing your players graduate. In ncaa 10 I played with Army for about 7 seasons. I built them into a national powerhouse and kept their triple option style. The reason I was able to build them into one of the best dynasty's statistically in cfb history is because around year 2-3 I got extremely lucky and somehow managed to sign the #1 rb in the nation!! He was a stud, a combination of Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson. He could do it all and broke records and won heismans. After him great recruits followed. he single handly built the program. Then once it was time for him to leave I got sad because I realized, "damn after I simulate to this next stage in the offseason this player is gone forever" haha no one would understand this feeling unless they played atleast 5 seasons with the same team.

DeShawn Stevens made his college decision and committed to Wisconsin! The (custom made) 3* 94 overall JUCO Junior QB, is going to be a Badger, and could very well put Wisconsin into championship contention in 2016 and 2017.
And your 2015 Heisman Trophy winner is...
                              KEVIN GROOMS OF MARSHALL UNIVERSITY!

                              That's right, I did it!!!

Despite missing most of the C-USA championship game against UL Lafayette (which we won 40-24) due to injury, he still edged out Johnny Manziel for the prestigious award.

These were Kevin's Final Stats (after bowl game):

                              Rushing
                              Attempts - 465
                              Yards - 2,571
                              Touchdowns - 22

                              Receiving
                              Receptions - 29
                              Yards - 279
                              Touchdowns - 4

But the good news ends there. Marshall only reached #18 in the BCS standings meaning the would not earn a BCS bowl bid. They instead were chosen to play in their 2nd straight Auto Zone Liberty Bowl against (6-6) Missouri. The Herd went on to lose 45-41 in a double-overtime heart-breaker.

On the bright side, this marked 2 consecutive 11-win seasons and C-USA championships for Marshall, and brings Rex Martin's coaching record to 30-11 over three years.

With that the 2015 season comes to a close, but I'll be back with an off-season update soon!

                              WE ARE! MARSHALL!

Edit: #2 Ohio State beat #1 Georgia Tech 24-10 in the National Championship game.

                                Spoiler
Huge News!!! Marshall head coach Rex Martin has accepted an offer to be the next coach of the Washington Huskies. The contract will last five years, and the target number for annual wins is 9. Ohio State OC Tom Herman was hired to replace Martin at Marshall.

The biggest reason I chose to leave Marshall was because at UDub I would be in a BCS-AQ conference. I was starting to get bored of AutoZone Liberty Bowls lol.
