Re: Need more time to select a play on defense...

I also noticed when paging, potentially the first page-down when the screen comes up often pages twice.

So I need to go down, up, just to go down 1. It's very clunky. By the time you found your play you might be able to make 1 or 2 subs but you're being big time rushed.

I have to make 3 subs/switches to 1 offensive play (want them lined up different) and it's a hassle every game. formation subs in a separate menu are needed even more this year than ever before because of the less time.

Re: Need more time to select a play on defense...

I feel like once I become more famialir with my teams playbook I can get a little bit faster... but with that said, I'd love to have a little more time with the defensive play call screen.

Honestly, I just have time to select the formation and the play. I rarely have enough time to switch packages before my time runs out. Another 4-5 seconds would be ideal.

Anyone try CoachGlass yet? Pretty cool. But I agree, not enough time to select a play.

I have the two play clock options set to off but I didn't shut it off.
I can only figure out how to do it in play now, and when you do that, it doesn't tell you what personnel the other team is using, so it's kind of a trade off

It should be under play clock length/time or something like that. It's default at 20 seconds but can be pushed back or turned of I believe.

I am starting to get more comfortable navigating the menu. The 10 seconds bites me in the butt still when I am trying to sub in fresh guys. Really wish we had formation subs that stuck game to game

It's turned off there and does not work. In another thread someone said it's in another section, I haven't tried it yet.

has this started growing on anyone yet? i haven't gotten into substitutions or anything to creative, but the better i know my playbook, i can safely say, getting a play ran in, isn't a problem any longer.

Yes, but why do I need to be forced to rush against the CPU. I too can get the right call in and can switch to nickle from my base D, however subbing and packages is still sacrificed.

Last year the CPU took a fee seconds to select a play. Why change that?!? The 12 second runoff is fine, the Insta-selection is broken IMO.

This is my only true complaint about the game. I'm loving all of the new features and feel the improvements have really made the game better and more enjoyable. I just don't understand why they would change something that wasn't broken. I doubt anyone ever complained they had too much time to call plays on defense!!

For all of the DEV emphasis on defense this year this really goes against it all. It basically eliminates the user from being able to acess valuable playcall options.

                        Needs a patch

Just add another 10, or even 20 seconds to the time to get a play called on D. I assume they cut it down to more closely simulate the quick calls D coordinators make in actual NFL games, but they know their playbook and personnel inside and out, they have schemes and packages so they are able to quickly respond to any situation.

If I want to take my time choosing to rest my RE and DT for one play and then choose a play that I think fits will with what the offense has on the field and game situation I shouldn't have to rush to do that in 10 seconds or whatever we are allowed now.

You could even make it unlimited time on D to call a play (against CPU, have to have a time limit for User v User games obviously) and I don't think anyone would complain.

I just discovered something that might be useful in user v cpu games; if you click L3 to go to the super sim menu and then back out it will reset the clock. Of course you wouldn't want to do this every play but it might be useful occasionally.

The new playcall screen might be great for the "Pick a play for me type player" that doesn't need more than 3 seconds to mash a button, but it's brutal for a more cerebral type players that need to sort the formations and plays to match down-distance and the offenses personnel.
I play this game offline co-op and we thought the same thing: why make the game feel so arcade like with a fancy looking, yet incredibly clunky playcalling screen, that doesn't give you sufficient time to enjoy it?

Very frustrating, especially when you enjoy discussing playcalling with your co-op friends.

Turning off the play clock wont help when we are on defense.

We are at the mercy of whatever time EA has programmed for us to have.

I want more time to pick the play AND more time to make 1 or 2 defensive adjustments once lined up
