    Re: Same old issues again

    Jack here,

You know, people are free to spend their money however they want, but I GUESS I am just shocked that people continue buying this game. I've taken a few years off madden and decide to rent it this year. Oh man, yep - same issues as always. Bad AI, awful line play, and overall just a dated engine. The commentary is absolutely dreadful too. I rather have no commentary than what we've been given.

I love the NFL and will no doubt always support them, but I really hope at some point someone in the league recognizes the lack of quality with what EA and tiburon and producing with these soulless football titles. It really is a damn shame.

      Re: Same old issues again

Bless this thread a thousand times. I've been plotting a PS4 purchase just so I can play the new Madden because once again the EA hype machine got to me (that commercial with Kevin Hart and Francos brothers' house burning down is hilarious). But after reading through and watching the videos I've cancelled those plans. I'll just stick with NCAA 14 on 360 at least that's sort of like real football. Thank you Scrollbar!

I'm not sure if this post is made sarcastically or not. No gigantic glaring issues?

        -zero pass interference calls
-no injuries at all , ever, to a non ball carrier
-running game is terrible because theres no real ball physics
-ratings mean very little when you can put a QB on the O line and he will play bad. instead of being murdered.the fact that's even a viable thing speaks volumes.
-CPU ai is taking far too many sacks and cant operate a proper offence.

I've used sliders a lot to try and make the game better, believe me I have, but the problem is this game is built on the very same engine we've had since XBOX 360 and PS3 early days. It needs to be re-done.

I'll be honest, I didn't read any of this post besides the complaining about no pass interference. lol..

The only real difference in versions of Madden comes down to how many bugs you can tolerate from year to year.Which will get addressed and which will carry over for umpteen years. The latter applies more unfortunately and a new higher powered system doesn't mask anything once the wow factor is gone.

Basically what they're trying to do is build a house by remodeling an old one. Yeah it's true you can do some nice things by remodeling, but you can't build a new house without either tearing the old one down, or finding a new plot of land and starting from scratch.

This is my second year in a row skipping Madden, and I still get the sense that even if I play it next year it's just going to feel pretty much like the same game with a large amount of lingering problems.

Not sure what they can do though. A new house is quite a thought, but it's also probably not all that practical, so they decided to remodel instead.
They knew the house was broken early last gen, they should have had a few architects (ghost team) working on building a new one probably mid-way through last gen.

Hey Scrollbar, why complain? There are plenty of EA backers on here that will tell you that this game is outstanding, and they have no problem with the fact that EA, over the last 15 years have never corrected the issues with their game.

I have to be honest, I more I play this game, the more I realize that the graphics are covering up alot of issues. I find myself having slideritis looking for the perfect game...The player model still have the herky, jerky movements and it just not feel organic...The game is definitely playable but I feel like Im still searching...the bad passes is still not there like i thought it was going to be and back to slider crazy trying to get it, the animations espacially the tackle animations is not there like they should be.....I truly think they have exhausted all options to improve this program and truly may need to start over...The presentation is better but the stadium environments get boring very quickly especially with the stadium announcer saying the players numbers instead of names(I think that there is no excuse for not having names but whateva)......The atomsphere should top notch by now.......Even the after play celebrations are annoying me now...I swear i seen all 8-10 of them by the first 3 games especially the basketball shot animation(so hate it now..lol).......i dont know where we go from here...just make the best of it

You guys just don't wanna learn, huh ?

I'm a big NFL and video game fan and haven't touched Madden in years, what does that tell you ?

The games have felt way too 'automated' to me, like they're half playing themselves.

But I guess that comes with the strive to make it 'LOOK' realistic, more than actually make a game that's fun to play, control wise.

                        1. The regulars know that I've been harping on PI calls since the last decade. PI has never been a penalty called on any regularity. Now, holding calls are nerfed and the whole penalty system is out of whack.

I keep referring from time to time with an interview that was posted last October on OS from Clint and Rex. At least that answer wasn't dodged.

Q:Expanding on that, will we start to see more interference penalties on defensive backs and offensive penalties on WR's?

Rex: Yeah and that's going to be a little more complicated for us to take on. When you consider the way our catching system works and physics. Just kind of building a system around hey there was organic contact between them. We wouldn't be able to essentially control those outcomes so we have to kind of build towards the pass interference system. We have to kind of restructure the architecture of our catching system to support true pass interference penalties that we can actually build into the game and control them the way we need to control them. I would expect that you will see that if not next year(M15), then within the next two cycles (Madden 16) we'll get to that.

                        2. Very true, agree 100%.

                        3. Agree with the lack of ball physics, but can get good running games from CPU and user.

                        4. Smitty discusses this in this new video.

                        5. The new tuner should have lowered the sack issue

Is that a new issue this year? Last year it seemed like any position could get hurt.

Does this mean injuries away from the play? I've injured gentlemen trying to tackle me and have got injured trying to tackle the ball carrier; neither of whom were carrying the ball at the time. I would say the only real injury issue I have is that my linemen (OL/DL) never seem to get injured. And for those wondering I cranked up fatigue and injuries.

I guess it must mean ball carriers and guys tacking ball carriers. Because after I read your response to my post I remember injuring Revis in a game against the Dolphins when I tackled Moreno with him. He hurt his arm and is out 3 weeks.

So I guess they mean injuries away from the play never occur?

Mind this is using Armor&Swords slider set, with all the changes listed there. Cant remember a video game, especially like sports games that I DIDNT have to adjust sliders.

Heck even in your vaunted, loved and perfect 2k game (Basketball and the old football) adjustments had to be made.

As for this being a 360 engine, your just wrong. Its clearly evident in the player models actually protraying correct height, weight and dimensions. No longer do we have these 300lbs lineman that look to be 600lbs and are as wide as a bus. And yes, Ive met several real life lineman in the real world and though they are huge, there dimensions in this years game are awesome.

Sure the physics are messed up, there not perfect, but I have only seen maybe once or twice per game where this effected me and made me say what?!?

When I throw the ball and I want to place it using the stick it goes generally where I want based on the QB I use and the position (moving, being hit, standing tall in the pocket etc) Im in. When Im pressured and quick throw boom ball hits the turf bounces around and incomplete.

As for WR's catching. Ive seen about 80% of the time the WR stop and plant there feet inbounds and falling out of bounds catching the ball. The rest of the time Ive just thrown it to far, or to behind them. Some get picked off, some just get dropped, and some they run out of bounds.

The running game. Yes I have players Olineman, Fullbacks ETC who will just wiff blocks left and right. Several times I noticed this I thought Id try something and actually be patient and instead of immediately sprinting Id run right behind that moving lineman or FB. Guess what? They blocked the guy and I made a good run.

Physics for height weight. I dont understand what you guys are saying. My 6'1" 233lbs HB Jeremy Hill runs downhill wonderfully and gets extra yards on almost every play. I try that with say Dri Archer and I get whacked all over.

To many sacks issue. They have taken care of this as far as I can see. I have Clowney and Mack playing DE in my 4-3 scheme, and though they get pressure and maybe 1 sack a game. It takes a truly horrendous tackle they are playing against for them to get multiples.

QB Throws not inaccurate. Ive seen instances of both to much accuracy, and some truly terrible throws. Last game Hoyer went 21 of 29 for 178yds 1td 1int on me. I sacked him once. They lost because I ran the ball better. Of those 8 missed passes, one was a pick obviously, the other 7 were just bad passes. All the completions were really on me, just terrible defensive play calling on my part. I guessed wrong on many of them.

This game isnt perfect, heck to alot of you it might not even be GOOD. But I think you guys are way overblowing things.
