After 10 + hours online play and vs the CPU; aggressive catch is balanced and very well done. I have my fingers crossed it doesn't get nerfed and is left alone. Very rarely do we get such a game mechanic that is balanced from the get go.
It's the first WR/CB mismatches can be exposed if my opponent doesn't counter with smart playcalling. Just my .02 cents.Comment

Yea im not a fan of the lack of timing. May have something to do with avoiding complaints about online timing.Comment

Re: Is The New Aggressive Catch Overpowered? (Possible Tweak Coming In Tuning Update?
Great. I drop like 90% of aggressive catches with any receiver below 85 rating. Glad to know I'll be dropping 100% with this tuning update they will do. Unbelievable.
Of course great receivers will make great catches. Double them. And even then they will make a few.
Now we can expect a patch to almost ruin the game, and a later patch to save the game. But instead of using resources Ryo improve the game they will try to fix something that the majority of the community is fine with..
Only certain receivers are a little op with it, most aren't, and those certain receivers are supposed to be op.

I think most everyone agrees there are way too many 1 handed catches but that is a separate issue from it being OPStreaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

After playing a lot I see no evidence that it's OP. You have to play real defense to slow down elite WR's. Just like RL.
There are too many one handed catches IMO but, that's a separate thing.

Re: Is The New Aggressive Catch Overpowered? (Possible Tweak Coming In Tuning Update?
Here are my observations:
1) One-handed catch animation trigger too frequently for all receivers.
2) Spectacular catch animations are accessible to third and fourth string guys that really should not have the ability to pull off catches like with any real frequency.
3) If you have a safety over the top, what effect does that have? I am still not sure. It doesn't look like there are any three-man (two defenders + receiver) canned battle animations, so the safety is not involved in those. Too often the safety doesn't even try for a swat and just "attaches" to the animation as the receiver is coming back to the ground. When the safety does try for a swat, he misses the vast majority of the time. So unless the game is giving a penalty to the catch chance % if a second defender is in the direct vicinity, I'm not sure if having a safety over top is helpful at all.
With all that said, it seems like the overall success rate of aggressive catches is close to where it needs to be. Just seems like there are slightly too many with lower-level receivers and when there is a second defender present.Ryan Spencer

I agree. The one handed catch animations need to be toned way down. How many one handed catches do we see a year in the NFL? Maybe 10? This was my concern when they announced ODB Jr as the cover athlete. EA tends to go overboard with adding these spectacular animations that you rarely see IRL. I'm perfectly fine with elite receivers like Dez or Megatron being able to pull down aggressive catches especially if not defended properly, but I don't want to see average receivers doing these spectacular one handed catch animations.Comment

The good news is that since Madden has begun implementing more authentic passing and running gameplay, they will be forced to develop more authentic defensive play to counter it. I cant wait for the day that gap assignments, line stunts, gap exchanges, match-coverage, and high-low/inside-outside technique become available for the user on defense - Not to mention tiered playcalling.Alabama Crimson Tide | Jacksonville Jaguars

After several games I have to say that the deep ball in general is a bit overpowered. I have won more balls that I would like. The problem is that the cpu rarely double players and 1on1 situations are very common. Even on obvious pass situations.

1- pass coverage slider on any setting at 100 means CPU will attack the ball and go for knock outs and contest more. I tested these at 100 and pass reaction at 0 and visca versa.
2- playbooks and situational ratings on offense and defenses are skewed. Especially long passing situations. It's pretty bad. So part of what your seeing is CPU defenses they shouldn't be in in certain situations.
3- lastly I went into rosters and tweaked some corners and safety's to balanced or conservative so they wouldn't go for interceptions as much in non appropriate situations, but they will play ball. I also dropped non elite receivers to below 88 on spectacular catch.
Factor all those things in and it's a incredible game! Problems solved with OP (if you want to call it that).Last edited by vannwolfhawk; 08-28-2015, 02:25 AM.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Is The New Aggressive Catch Overpowered? (Possible Tweak Coming In Tuning Update?
While I think it is pretty good over all just maybe a little over powered but if so not by much. I am loving the aggressive catch and the 2 other catch options and also the way the CPU plays the ball.Comment
