Re: Can We Talk About The Running Game?

AI has been anywhere from 50-150 yards so far in the games I've played on default AllPro. And in a game I'm playing right now Frank Gore is currently at 9 carries for 46 yards with 2:48 to go in the first.

    Not seeing an issue here.

Re: Can We Talk About The Running Game?

Honestly while nowhere near perfect this might be the first Madden last gen or this gen where more than just your RB's skills come into play. The talent on of the DL and LB's on the opposing team actually factor in now, as well as what plays you pick. The days of running those cover plays where 2-3 LB's drop back into coverage but somehow have the reflexes and speed of Flash if its a run play and can still stuff your run at the line of scrimmage are over. Keep calling those LB drop zone plays, I will run up the middle all over you...

Simply put, if its a wash between your O-line and the other teams D-Line, you're going to have to call smarter plays on D where your linebackers are concerned if you want to stop the run.

On the flip side of that, trying to run an average (like low 80's to mid 70's) rated RB on a D that's got a solid run defense then well.. guess what... you're not going to have 25 carries for 140 yards... Granted I'm talking about coach mode here...

If you're controlling the acting, your results will probably vary more, but even then if you are controlling the RB, and he's an average RB against a good line, you're going to actually *gasp* use some skill this year to have success.

It seems like this year you really have to time the acceleration burst well to be successful. Last year they added the acceleration burst as a similar, but different thing from the turbo/sprint of old, but I still found myself holding R2 immediately with little consequence.

My first few games I struggled to get more than three yards per carry, but once I started holding off R2 until I hit the hole I started getting 4-5 ypc with Bishop Sankey on All-Madden default.

Couldnt agree more. You have to gameplan on what you want to stop each game. In my eagles CFM I gave up over 100 yds rushing to both the falcons and the cowboys because I focused on stopping julio and dez, against the jets I shut the run game down and forced Fitzpatrick to beat me through the air

personally love the run game unless its the CPU doing the running. I can't get them above -5 yards most games.

as a user running, I found changing the camera before plays helped a lot. I get a much better view of the blocking lanes from the standard cam

I actually have no issues with the running game and can consistently rush for 100+ yards on All-Pro. Even broke a few nice ones on All-Madden.

Are you sure you're reading your blocks and cuts correctly?

Re: Can We Talk About The Running Game?

I actually had to change up the way I run. It past years hitting the sprint button would cause basically every defender to immediatly disengage from blocks, so I wouldn't touch the sprint button until I was in the second level.

Now the you have to hit sprint while in the backfield to burst through the hole in the line. Running backs seem so slow in the backfield this year

Just wanted to add I've done something for years that was added to madden this year that helps when running, skills trainer calls it the "hat count" or something but basically count up the defenders in the box and see if you have a running advantage of not. If there's 9 guys in the box running might not be the best option.

I love the run game this year. In online head-to-head I've had quite a few 100+ rushing yards games with Chris Ivory.

You have to read the defense pre-snap and determine the correct run to use. Up the middle runs are really effective this year....and if you have a strong HB he can break quite a few tackles.

                  It's beautiful.
                  Lineup:
                  PG) Gary Payton
                  SG) '95-'96 Michael Jordan
                  SF) Sapphire Scottie Pippen
                  PF) '95-'96 Dennis Rodman
                  C) Hakeem Olajuwon

I have ran the ball with ease. 155 yards on all pro. 6 yards a carry. I start off like 6 carries for 9 yards every game and then as the game wears on, I start gutting

3 ypc isn't fantatic, but it's not terrible. If you could run twice and be left with 3rd and 3-4 every time, most teams would take that.

Running up the middle anyway outside runs if you have the numbers to your favor on the side you wish to run, an overloaded middle may be to your advantage.

Knowing when to use the L2 vs. R2 button is huge. I think the L1 get skinny button is big as well. I also believe the timing is different on the right stick moves which is taking me some time to adjust to. My results have been mixed.

On X1 it is RB, so I imagine it would be R1 on PS4?

In any event, yes, the get skinny button is huge for me.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.
