Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
NHL 15 gen 3 had the most balanced and well-tuned franchise mode I've seen on an EA console game.
I had a first round pick bust, I also had a first round pick take a long time to develop, but become a solid playmaker at 22 after building his game in the AHL. I even had a late rounder come out of nowhere in his second year as a pro to become a top defenceman. In the aggregate though, the tuning is excellent, far more of your prospects will never really become NHL caliber outside of the first round, and sometimes those first round guys a projects that can become top players if you are patient and put them in the right spots at the right times.
While development is largely based on slotting correctly, it is also influences by the variable of player performance within the sim engine. Like if a third line guy in the minor leagues performs above expected based on what happens in simmed games, he is going to grow more as a player. It never felt unbalanced. Just sometimes, randomly, the sim engine allowed for some guys to get on a roll, or perform above the statistical likelihood.
Overall development is pretty hands off, you interpret the data of his ratings and potential range, and decide where to stick the player in your organization based on what you think you'd like him to be for your organization in the future.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 08-26-2015, 02:50 PM.Comment

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
People keep dogging on the current DEVS do you realize the amount of crap they got put on there plate from the prev dev team?
Also before this year EA would not allow a dev team to speak out over the product via twitter and such. That changed when Kobe took the job
Yes it sucks we know but look at the benifts of the current game with a few tweaks "first patch" we are going to have a solid madden game the first time in a very very long timeSOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
I'm not a fan of the drive goals thing either, but the way I have been using it in my CFM games is that a player has just been getting "hot" at certain points in the game. Granted, I also don't have any of that stuff on the screen, so I don't go out of my way to complete the goals that I have. Plus if they are not carrying over from one week until the next I don't think its that big of a deal.
Basically what I'm saying is if one game a QB gets hot and has a great week, and the next week he throws 3 interceptions and we lose, I don't think I will mind this bug as much as everyone else.Comment

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
If a team goes 0-16 and they bring in a new staff the next year and a team goes 4-12, it means they are progressing but they arent going to go 16-0 overnight. Same thing with the old and new dev teams.Comment

Can the drive goals be turned off? And if so, what affect would that have?Comment

So if I give you a car that runs like garbage and has a bunch of problems you are saying I can't be blamed for the cars poor performance?
As soon as you take ownership of the car you assume all the problems as your own?

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
Just to finish my thoughts on dislike for xp and player dev and praise for the NHL system, this video kind of shows it off (even if the youtuber is annoying) at the 8 minute mark and on.

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
Late to the party here but I haven't seen the drive goals boost but like some others I don't really pay attention, I personally hate that part of the game and wish it would be an option to turn off.
Screwed up simulated stats really annoys a lot of people, I don't really care about these. The rookie stats is the bigger issue for me of what is being discussed but it's not preventing me from playing a CFM, i'm going to restart anyway when the opening day rosters come out.
Been busy at work this week to check but my main issue is injuries as in I don't see any. I'm not sure if that is something that is an issue for others but through 6 games and no injuries I can see at all.<a href="http://www.operationsports.com/Danimal/blog/6756-going-old-school-v1/">Read my blog Going Old School v1 GridIron! football.Comment

I know it'll never happen, but wish they could take an entire year off and come back hard with Madden 18. Release a roster patch for next year's new players, but don't actually release a full game.

Re: Kolbe says to WAIT to start your CFM
But when a team constantly goes 4-12 it's time to replace the players. Don't get me wrong 16 is the best effort in ten years but it stuff that shoulda been in the game a loooooong time ago.Comment
