Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
Uggghhhhh!!!! I dealt with this last year!!! Lol. New atl Mercedes-benz stadium. I've lived in that damn dome for 20 years!!! I want to see the sunlight on the field!! And, with frostbite?!! Oh, man, seriously, this is actually pretty disappointing. And, it just really is one of those odd things. One can never know how tricky the code is unless he's a developer on the team. But, weather and open/closed stadiums should be an option for every single game in every single game mode. I just don't get this. And, speaking from a developer perspective, I truly find it hard to believe it would be that difficult. At some point in the code before the game itself loads, it's taking in environmental parameters like 'outside, rain, 4:00 pm'. In order to set these, u would need to rework the UI before the game starts to add those as possible parameters. I truly feel this might take like a week for 1 developer to accomplish. Lol. Oy, whatever. [emoji33]

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
So they can make a stupid story mode that nobody wants or asked for but they can't put the same options that are in Play Now into CFM. This is mighty frustrating.Comment

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
Really sad they still neglect to fix or even patch this feature in.. I don't get it
Why not let us choose if we want it opened or closed or just fix the thing completely I hope they fix it b4 launch Cuz it should be in..

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
I was sure that we would be able to this year with the inclusion of Frostbite. They rave about how good the new lighting, shadows, etc. yet we wont get to experience that if we play with teams that have retractable roofs. I was really looking forward to seeing how Mercedes Benz Stadium looked with the roof open.
PS: I tweeted Clint, John & Rex to see if there was a possibility to get this in before release.Last edited by JayD; 06-12-2017, 09:33 AM.Comment

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
Seems like a very basic thing to add. They cut corners everywhere and they don't listen to the community. I know this is a small detail but it's also an important, every game presentation, thing they took out of the game. They've had the beginning coin toss in the game for years and they don't even bother with it anymore. Like why are you taking something that is authentic to the game out, their business strategy is horrible for consumers but we all feed into them anyway because they are the only ones who can make an NFL game.Comment

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
Rather, time is more often the blocker. Every engineer's time is already blocked out for the next two weeks of sprint work, possibly the next month if Tiburon schedules sprints that far ahead (I wouldn't know). There is an endless number of bugs and regressions on the backlog to fix and address once engineers are done with their sprint tasks. There are also a bunch of sprints of work left to schedule and assign to engineers once the current sprints are done. All this work is the minimum to just to get the features you must ship into the game.
And before you say "well the engineers should work extra hours" - they're already doing that. One of my bosses who previously worked on MLB The Show has relayed to me a couple horror stories about some of the time crunches at Sony San Diego (which he said was a great place to work, lest I give the wrong impression). One particular time there was a period of two weeks during which he and his cube-mates literally slept under their desks and literally lived at the office for two weeks. They had to do this because there was too much work to do and none of them could afford to take the time it took to drive to and from the office. That was the state of play in AAA game development in the late '00s; zero concept of work-life balance during crunch. It's better now, but it's still tough and video games is not the industry for you if you don't like long hours.

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
You can't compare these two games. Madden already has it in their game but you just can't utilize the open/closed option in CFM. This is what baffles me?Comment

Re: Retractable Roofs Open?
More often than not, it's not the difficulty of the task that is the blocker. Getting stadium and weather selection into Franchise is probably more than just "some UI work" - I'd worry about online desyncs in head-to-head games, for example - but on the scale from 1 to Impossible, I would venture to guess this is closer to 1.

I want to point out that your professional experience colors your thinking so you are way more sympathetic to the game makers than the ordinary consumer.
But from the consumer's perspective the final product really is all that matters. From the consumer perspective it really is this simple. (1) Madden has open and closed retractable roofs in the game (2) the NFL has open and closed roofs during their season (3) CFM which is supposed to be a representation of the NFL season has not had this for years (4) Not satisfactory.Comment
