I wonder why Madden didn't implement some of it into this years game like FIFA is doing

You can't really go halfway when it comes to switching engines. It's pretty much an all or nothing deal.

I'm honestly terrified of a switch to frostbite given Madden's history of yanking out a ton of features every time a generation/engine/game mode changes.

With the dev team we currently have, I feel pretty confident that we aren't going to see tons of features disappear anymore.

I wouldn't get my hopes up that Madden 18 will be on Frostbite, I'm leaning towards Madden 19, but if it's in 18 that'll be great but I'm not expecting it to be.

I've gone out on a limb a few times and have said that yes, it's 100%, take it to the bank that it will be on frostbite for 18..

With what was added this year, plus the promise of Frostbite and the possibility of it's implementation in next year's Madden, '18 looks like it might be the year I get back to Madden. I'm not nearly as excited about what I'm seeing this year as others seem to be, but it's some of the best additions in the past 10 years.

Well....we know why they havent fixed the player models. Moving to the Frostbyte engine will fix the problem with the bent knees walking and some of the running animations.....

I have been wondering, if Madden goes to Frostbite, would they or could they do what other Frostbite games like, Battlefield 4 and Star Wars Battlefront do, and create DLC's which you can buy individually, or get within their "Season Pass" pre pay program?

Battlefront just got a 10GB update and their 1st of four DLC's is out...

I know football is different than a shooter, but with Frostbite as the engine and if a solid base is created for Madden Football fundamentals, a DLC system could maybe add things like a "Head Coach" to the game at $19.99; not to mention any number of modes, along with updates such as rosters, thus potentially eliminating a need for a "new version" every year, but a less expensive DLC with roster changes..

With a Season Pass, obviously the company gets more money up front to keep working with.
Anyway, just a thought.

Changing in game engines shouldn't have much of an effect on whether or not DLC is possible. It wouldn't be any easier in a different engine to add a mode or teams or whatever. They're unlikely to go an official roster update DLC because that would cost them money in lost sales from people that didn't buy the new version.

That's not to say that they couldn't add a Head Coach type upgrade as DLC, just that an engine switch doesn't make it easier or harder (other than the fact that they'd have less time to devote to a new mode while making everything work in the new engine.)
