Is the backup player/coach necessary?

Just completed week 15 of my cfm by simply moving my 2nd controller over to the Texans selecting run & gun playbook and uniforms, moved 2nd controller back to center of screen then started game with 1st controller.

No created coach or 3rd string qb and finished game.

Yds 453 - 365
Plays 51 - 58
Texans Run/Pass 14/44
Jax Run/Pass 14/37

Don't know where to find box score sorry for the cluster, but it worked great. Gonna start next week with custom playbook. Using Armor & Swords base sliders with slight changes due to my line's confidence being in the 70's

That's good if you don't want to setup another coach
The bonus for creating coach is,
Autosubs
Depth chart (setting backup HB as 3rd dwn back or taking the starting WR off of PR's and KR's).
Formation subs.
Basically setting up your opponent as you setup your own team.
That's cool that it works w/o creating a coach though.

so, in week one:

a person can choose to be coach of the Jets - set depth chart and formation subs - retire the coach and choose 3/4th string QB - doing the swagger coach 2nd controller work-around - apply pb's - play game - finish week 1 - then, play week two and three with different teams each week and then go back and check the Jets as a coach and the changes they made to the jets depth chart and formation subs in week 1 and the changes will stay there permanently ?

I realize this is kinds like talking in circles. I am not so swift and it would be great if one person could make one post and sticky it on the homepage, or 1st post of this thread.

Was there anyway to verify that the custom book "stuck" when you moved the 2nd controller to middle? The game used to then use the default team playbook when you did that. It's great if the custom books do stick now under those circumstances, but is there a way to verify?

Use a run heavy on a passing team and see what happens. I haven't noticed any issues with custom playbooks not sticking.

Just as an example, played a half against the Lions with them using the Panthers playbook. Lions were running full panther and heavy panther formations. Also Stafford ran 3 zone read plays.

Not allowing custom playbooks to be assigned and stick if you change team control is a huge miss again by EA.

How cool would it be to assign a user created 1966 Packers book to that team in a classic roster/CFM? Or an Air Coryell book for the 1980 Chargers? Even a modified Run Heavy book for the teams from the 1960's when the QB maybe attempted 25 passes a game?

Not sure why they ignore this request year to year.

That's exactly the thing here. like another post said, maybe EA doesn't want it to make it too difficult for casual fans. Or sim like. But hopefully just make it easier for the people who want to dig in, and get the most out of it. One controller, and let me go in and do this stuff easier. I have a PS4 btw. Wish me luck lol

2 things... one i kinda wish the quick simulated games would take your formation subs into account, but it doesnt.. i pretty much split the formations on the niners with my starter and backup,, simulated a game and the starter played all plays,

another thing is yes it would be nice to be able to use custom/shared whatever it may be playbooks and change it in the coach scheme area, and not just when u are about to play a game, and the simulation uses your playbook, not just default ones.. come on EA



A couple times i noticed when i went to formations screen, there was no plays showing, i had to pick a play elsewhere,


AND ON MORE thing the most annoying of all.... when i seem to use shared playbooks and then tinker with them or maybe even if i dont change anything, OMG i have counted about 10 times now my team will randomly punt on first or 2nd down, while doing the slow supersim watch mode.. how frustrating is this... why are they Fing punting.... anyone else have this issue

It's not working for me. Followed swaggercoach's directions but 2 things happened:

1) When I adjusted to a custom PB for the Bills after becoming a 3rd string QB, I moved the controller back to the middle to let the CPU take over the game and it crashed.

2) So then I just tried leaving the controller in the same place after adjusting to the CPU playbook and it doesnt freeze, but instead tells me "Ready, Please wait" and never starts the game

Im going to have to PM swagger Coach to find out what I'm doing wrong

Edit: I also tried backing out to the main menu and going back to the team selct screen to start up but it didn't work...so frustrating smh

With the custom playbook when you set it exit the start game menu in cfm then go back in and check the playbook its still set to the custom one

I another way would be to set the uniforms or a 4-3 to 3-4 to verify at least thats what I did to console myself lol

yes, but it seems to only work on x-box 1 and not ps-4. It crashes every time I try it.
