Yea pretty sure the playbooks stick without the workaround.. Just move it over to CPU with 2nd controller, switch playbook, exit and move back to middle.. Swear that worked for me, but having played 16 in a while, maybe Im just remembering wrong. This is as a coach, where the 2nd controller is just a "guest" profile.

Is this working with 3rd controller as well? Me and my friend are playing offline franchise and would love to use these playbooks. Does is it make a difference if there is 3rd controller that makes the "workaround" to get these playbooks work? Thanks.

Create a 2nd profile on your ps4 (or use another profile if you already have more than 2.)

Once you're on that profile, download a custom playbook.

Switch back over to your main profile. Go to your CFM. Create a new PLAYER on the TEAM you're playing against that week in your franchise (click on Right Stick). Make him an ACTIVE QB. Choose the team's 3rd stringer (or whatever is lowest - the idea is: you DON'T want him playing).

***IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU CLICK INSTANT STARTER OFF***

Then switch back over to your team. Start the game.

On the controller select screen, turn on a 2nd controller. Make sure it's connected to the 2nd profile (the same one that downloaded the custom playbook).

Slide the 2nd controller over to the opposing team. Choose the custom playbook for them.

Launch the game. The CPU should use the custom playbook and as long as the other quarterbacks don't get injured, your game will play perfectly with the CPU using much better play calling.

I don't own 17 yet (picking it up in a few hours) but from what I've heard, this process SHOULD work. I'll test later when I can.

Just think, if we wanted to, we could adust the CPUs gameplanning week to week, and really see some variety in the CPU!

So can we just do this in CFM instead of assigning playbooks?

OK I've had a chance to get the game and played a few games - it's a ton of fun this year.

Haven't had much of a look into the playbooks - might dig into that a little tonight.

Last year I believe I was able to crank out 7-8 PS4 playbooks.

This year I'm going to aim for 3-4.

Instead of doing each team's unique playbook, I'm just going to eliminate the stupid plays (4 verts, endless PA's, etc) and create different options for the CPU you can give them based on their team strengths.

Something like:
- Vertical/pass heavy offense
- Run heavy offense
- Option read/spread offense
- West coast offense

Since I'm not analyzing each team's playbook in detail like I did last year, this project should go much faster.

I'll post here once I get some PS4 books up....and who knows...I might throw up a few specific team ones as well....no promises

Can't wait! I know many PS4 users including several friends who are dying to use these but don't have the knowledge or time to do it themselves. Your work will not go under appreciated!

I just realized 2 new things that I will have to go back and fix on all playbooks.

1- I selected as many primary route plays for Antonio Brown, Dez, etc.for all superstars. Unfortunately that was with me being used to wr1 being on the right side. Easy fix is switch CPU wr depth charts a wr 1 as wr 2 and visca versa.

2- I was putting (inside the 5) as plays I thought was from within the 5 yard line about to score... SMH hence why you might see some weird plays there. The last couple of books I've put some max protect shot plays for variety of buried deep in your own territory...

Yes, that's another reason I haven't finished my Redskins yet.
I'm testing the star system and the reason some plays keep getting repeated in the Coaching Suggestions and others are not.
I was always of the belief that how the coaching suggestions are populated for our team, is the same logic the CPU uses to call plays.

FYI, the Run N Shoot PB is good for a Pass heavy team. They(Bills in preseason) Passed almost 70% of the offensive calls. What's awesome is they will sneak in some draws and delay runs that will gash you!

I gave the Jets the Run N Shoot and they got me when they were pinned back on the 1, got me on a PA corner to their TE.! Felt like I was playing another user lol.

And in my last game vs Bills, same PB, they got me when they were inside the 5 and ran a PA boot were the TE goes on a shallow cross(away from the boot direction) to the weak side of the D, and then the TE goes up the field!
That was a TD and a very timely call by the CPU!

We need to figure out this star system guys.
Do you see how lame the defensive star system is?
Same old Zone calls are starred the highest! Only a handful of plays have stars over the minimum(half star).

Important*
They are supposed to be patching the #1 WR lining up on the left and moving them back to the right, so they will fix that, we don't have to.

You assign the PB in CFM before you start the game, just like you do when you want to change your PB before starting(except the CPU uses 2nd controller and can be moved back to the middle after assigning a new PB)
You Customize and save the PBs in MM.


Also an idea I wanna try.
If I create a coach, instead of a player, can we just go into the coaching scheme for that coach and change the Offensive and defensive PBs? And will it let us choose a custom save book?

Yes, I've witnessed the Run N Shoot 2 games now by the CPU and the controller was moved back to the middle.

I just tested it. Its the same as last year.

Your way doesnt work on custom playbooks.

For example, I have a 32 team franchise. I created a playbook and assigned it the Vikings under the second controller. I moved the controller back to the middle and started the game.

The game froze. Just like last year.

The only way to do this with custom playbooks is last year's method (Create a player, make that player a 3rd string QB and keep the controller on the 2nd profile side.)

Ok, thanks for testing it. So its a no go for creating a coach, thanks for clarifying that.
Just have to use the create a player for now
