I guess what i didn't realize was playstation wasn't advancing their console. I guess i don't know much about Scorpio, but i would have otherwise thought it would be like transitioning from xbox to xbox one."Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory."Comment

Re: Madden NFL 18 Will Transition to the Frostbite Engine
I agree. Honestly it feels like in FIFA 17 it's a placebo affect. I honestly don't see that much difference between FIFA 16 & 17. It's "shiny'er" to be sure. But that's it.Honestly, I believe the Frostbite Engine is all hype. I play FIFA on a regular basis and besides the better lighting, and slightly better physics, I really don't see much of a difference between FIFA 17 and FIFA 14. So I'm not expecting a significant jump from Madden 17 to Madden 18.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 18 Will Transition to the Frostbite Engine
It's not a sports game, but the first-person shooter Titanfall 2 by Respawn was recently released running on a (admittedly very very very heavily modified) fork of Source engine. You may better remember Source engine as the engine which powered Half-Life 2, which released in 2004.
Game engines can stick around for a very long time and, if the appropriate care is taken, be adapted to new and more powerful hardware without too much pain.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 18 Will Transition to the Frostbite Engine
The transition to a new engine is a more of a reason this won't be a pre-order or day 1 purchase for me. The year to year hype engine and legacy problems of Madden has made me sceptical enough that something like this needs a "wait and see" approach before purchasing.
Look at what happened when they went from M12 Franchise to M13 CFM, it took years to get right (I understand that was a format not an engine, but still... sceptically sceptic) or the fact that Madden has needed multiple patches and patches-for-patches months after release for the last few editions.
If it doesn't sound promising, NBA 2k18 it will be

Not sure I quite understand the multiple patch angle when the game you mentioned has just as much or more title updates vs Madden. There isn't a game that I don't own in this era that doesn't have patch updates????The transition to a new engine is a more of a reason this won't be a pre-order or day 1 purchase for me. Here's hoping the frostbite engine adds a ummph to Madden in the near future. There is so many conflicting opinions, I'll judge it when I see it.Comment

You'll probably still have similar issues because there's a good chance that the base C++ code in current Madden will be imported over

Re: Madden NFL 18 Will Transition to the Frostbite Engine
For years I heard EA saying that they didn’t have enough memory to fix the NFL team helmets for pro bowl players. Now that they switch to the frostbite engine they have no more excuses. Fix the pro bowl players helmets and give them the helmets of the teams that they represent.

After seeing the changes that Frostbite brought to ME:A WITH a new generation of hardware, I'm not really holding out hope for a massive jump.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

I wanna see cfm play as competitive as play now mode. Been a huge problem for years and it's plain asinine. Need better animations, lighting, engagements between players, and of course, would love better immersion pregame and halftime, maybe some gamebreaks during."Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"
