In 17 I could have sworn that you can tap R2 and your QB would get out of the pocket and just jog to the side without holding the left stick? Maybe it will be the same in 18 and while your jogging you can use the left stick.

Nope, the left stick moves the target around on the field. So you won't be controlling your QBs movement with the left stick once you enact it.

Are you assuming that's what happens when you are on the run and you hit LT? I'm just curious as to what actually happens.

No, I am not assuming anything. Rex Dickson already tweeted that once you enact the Target passing system by hitting L2 then the left stick moves the reticule/target system on the field.

Holding LT made the QB throw low passes last year. So are the High/low options gone?

Good question, maybe this is something that you will need to disable to have the ability to do high/low passes. They can only put so many controls on these buttons and sticks.

No, I am not assuming anything. Rex Dickson already tweeted that once you enact the Target passing system by hitting L2 then the left stick moves the reticule/target system on the field.

I understand thats what happens. So Rex said it's impossible to throw on the run when using the mechanic.

He hasn't specifically said that no, but you cannot control two things at once with the left stick. I suppose there's some remote change you could then run with the right stick but does anyone really think that will be the case? If the left stick is being used for the target reticule as to where you're throwing you won't be able to run using it.

My guess is, as has been stated, they (EA) consider using precision, targeted passing something a QB would only do while in the pocket and able to accurately and specifically target a spot on the field. Whereas when a QB is scrambling they would not be making a precision pass.

Right my thoughts as well. I was forgetting that you can still throw in the run by hitting the icon like every other madden.

Just seems odd they wouldn't tie it to the RS. It seems like the most convenient option. Especially since the RS isn't really used much.

Yeah, and I can picture the scenario where you're lining up the reticle nicely in the pocket, but u feel the pass rush, instantly let go of LT, press RT and run. Now, while on the run, I can still icon pass or u can run for the first down. Or, when u feel the rush, u can make split second decision to throw it to your spot, or u can whip the reticle into a safe overthrow out of bounds or at the WR feet in a safe spot to just get the incompletion.

I'm ok with this, overall. There will be variants of things to be able to do and limits on what u can do. I still think it might have offered more flexibility on the right stick to absolutely let u control running and aiming. Lol. Which would be interesting and difficult, but would feel ultimately rewarding making a throw across your body on the run. Lol.

I'm really curious to see the animation transition on this, though:

Hold RT, sprint to the right, then quickly let off and press LT and instantly throw it. Lol. I'm just really curious to see if the animation is a cold stop, plant feet and throw. Or, if the running animation continues for 1 second, maybe, and u can use reticle passing while on the run. I mean, that is a very specific scenario. But, Im curious:
1. Do they have a smooth animation for this
2. Do they simply not allow it, and there's a poor controller 'lag' on the reticle popping up, maybe.

Anything that makes the passing game more challenging (in a fair way) is a good thing. I didn't own an Xbox, so never got to play the Fever series, but always heard good things about the game, and have seen some videos highlighting the passing system. I'm intrigued.

For me... When you had a good day passing you really felt good lol as you earned it more. It wasn't perfect but was just a few tweaks away IMO.

You won't be throwing on the run at all using the new passing system. The left stick moves the reticule so you will need to be standing still to use target passing.

I wonder if you are running then click the LS if QB momentum will still be going in that direction while you throw?? That would be cool.

I sort of doubt out. Or, I think it's 'always' on. Because, u press the LT to activate it. If u want to use it, press LT during a pass play. If u don't want to use it, don't press LT.

Lol. That's an interesting question, actually. But, I would have to guess absolutely not, honestly. I don't think it would be worth it to train the CPU AI to use it. I could be wrong, this is just me guessing, but I think that AI might be more difficult to create, and not quite worth the bang for buck. They can just let the CPU do what it's been doing, and not worry about re-programming to use it.

Although, it would probably/possibly make for better/more dynamic physics. So, in that regard, it might be worth it to them.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to see where the cpu quarterback is looking, giving me the ability to anticipate their throws and get a jump on the ball when usering on defense

Cpu defenders not being able to read the quarterbacks eyes is the primary thing that broke coverage in the first place.
