OLD BIT but true.. The reason EA is not releasing gameplay videos until the very last minute is because they CAN!! No competition.. Whereas they're trying to win back 2K basketball fans, so they're releasing NBA LIVE 18 demo next week..

Bottom line.. Do you really think if 2K had a football game Madden would be using this "new" marketing strategy of witholding gameplay videos until the very last minute before release?

I'm referring to NBA Live 14.....

Then you're talking about the wrong game because Live 14 launched.

I'm looking at it now in Xbox Store and in my ready to install list.

NBA Live 13 got killed and there is gameplay on that as well.

I don't even know what you're talking about anymore, lol. I was just saying Live 14 was released without actual gameplay being shown other than a trailer. They hid that game. I don't think that is what they are doing here with Madden 18.

They're trying a release schedule similar to NBA 2k, I don't think they're hiding the game....

This is an outstanding point and by bringing it up you reminded me of a tweet Rex sent out earlier this year asking what they could personally do to better support YouTubers and Streamers aka "community influencers" and I wouldn't be surprised if this was an extension of that. Regardless of what people imply, these videos always come with plenty of positive feedback and they're obviously in higher demand than ever before so like you said it would make sense for them to see an uptick in views especially with the new engine being almost entirely unseen by the majority.

They don't win no matter how you put it ! Just like you said release June or now your still going to get the same feedback . Plus to be honest I do believe they won't win at all this year because this game sound great to sim/ gameplay guys but most gameplay stuff you have to feel and play not watch . You can see some things watching but madden 18 sounds like you must play it game . Other wise all you will here it looks the same .

Does any part of you feel like it's sketchy to have not seen the game running on the frostbite after all the issue Fifa had last year in its beta? I was invited to that beta and it was terrible. Random things in the Career mode were completely broken that were a big deal and everyone's ratings suddenly dropped after you played your first game. An engine switch is a big deal and not seeing the game running is concerning to me because of what I saw happen to Fifa last year. They ran a beta and got a decent amount of the bugs out, but Madden is waiting to the last possible minute to let anyone see what they're up to so when are they gonna fix any bugs that show up?

I hope it's all marketing strategy, but there's at least a decent possibility that they're afraid to show a product with serious flaws.

I mean I don't trust anything EA/Tiburon says, they've been exposed so many times it's hard to fathom people defending them or taking there word for it, but I honestly don't think anything is up with, or wrong with the game.

They let the public play it in June, Youtubers and GCers have been invited there to play it, the footage will be released next week or the week after and then we'll all have something else to talk about.

I do think it's a little weird no footage came with the blogs this year, but hey maybe they've got some kind of deal with these youtubers.....

I'm hoping what is shown is good, because when EA quelled on their gameplay footage, I quelled back on my excitement of preordering blindly.

"Pretty sure" doesn't do it. If it's out next week, then great. But their deadlines for releasing gameplay that they have told us about with early July and mid-July have passed with no gameplay so it's not gonna be surprising if it's next Sunday and we still don't have gameplay and nobody sees it before EA Play. Talk is cheap when it's not backed up and that's the point we've gotten to this cycle with gameplay.

If the release date comes and goes without gameplay being shown, then I agree with you...............but do you honestly think nothing will be shown prior to release day?

I hope not, but they're cutting it close man. They keep pushing it back again and again and it wouldn't surprise me at this point if there's some "unforeseen delay" next week and they end up waiting to release anything until EA Access.

Am I concerned ? Not at all.

They have never claimed to be remaking the whole game for Madden 18.

Looks like they have cleaned up a bunch of old junk, added some new game play feature.....we all know the list so far.

So what would I expect to be so different, that I would have to see a game play video NOW ! ??

But I will say... I find some of these long drawn out theories and never ending arguments to be ummmm....

I mean really, if you can put this much effort into discussing the lack of video's so intensely...... you have been following all the news that's been put out already.

And my guess is you have a real good idea of what Madden 18 is gonna basically look and play like..... I know I do.

While there's reason to doubt like others have said, at this point, i'd say no. Rex came into this very thread a few pages ago and gave his 'guarantee'. That's putting his credibility on the line to a fairly large degree and I respect that.

I really think that this is just a big marketing flub. They seem to be very disconnected from the Development team IMO.
