Your on the most hardcore sim forum for madden probably on the planet. Talking about a game that isn't released. We all have a bit of a problem mate.

Agree. But I'm not talking about singular comments like "EA sucks, where's my **** gameplay videos". That's the comments that open yourself up to ridicule. What I'm referring to is people who present their view in a logical manner. And if you are going to label someone, you should provide or be prepared to state logical reasons why. Otherwise, the comment is no better than the one above.

As roadman said, there are people who post on both extremes and it's disappointing but expected in 2017. When I browse the forums I see the theme of people expecting EA to deliver all of the information they have been given in years past, like EA owes that to them. There is some "well they better show me footage or else" type posts in there which appear to be a strong arm attempt to get more information. This is an entitled POV, IMO.

Then there are people just stating they are disappointed with the lack of game play and the current marketing strategy which to me is not entitlement as all.

So when I use entitlement it's directly at that first group I mention.

Lol, that is true; literally made me laugh. First step is accepting you have a problem, right? But when I see what my wife talks about on Facebook or hear the gossip train roll in, I'm at peace with my little Operation Sports and football 'problem'. I know it could be much worse, Lol.

People are entitled to the right to act entitled towards EA. I'm entitled to state that they are acting entitled. It's not an insult, it's an observation.

You can't involve get a life and things like that. That crosses the line. Then throwing in how you're laughing at people who act entitled...

There's a difference between posting an observation and stirring up the pot.

I's not clear to me how you make that distinction though between "posting an observation" or "stirring the pot". Those are some fairly mundane terms but even I conceded at the time I could have chosen my words better, so I don't get how entitlement observations or accusations are any different or add anything to discussion in the first place and then to keep harping on it. Ironically it's a similar thing I was asking in that thread last year, where some of the same posters and rhetoric came in there "stirring the pot", imo, which I was mocking in that old post.

From my perspective if I was a Dev I would find it very difficult to continually interact with the community without getting disheartened.

Back in 1996, if I wanted to complain to the Devs I had to write a letter, and mail it to them. Most people weren't going to go through that effort. But in 1996, there was also no patching, and internet access was rare in most homes. Even then, it was 56k speed, SLOW, and if someone picked up the phone, you got kicked offline.

Now Devs can fix issues on the fly with patches, and they're connected to the community through Twitter, Twitch, YouTube, Forums, and E-mails. The amount of feedback is just deafening, and as another poster said, most of it is just written in a very toxic manner. Since the Devs are merely human, they're natural psychologically programmed reaction is to simply interact less with the community.

If you want to be heard you need to find a way to communicate in a thorough and mutually beneficial way. If the Devs feel attacked they're not going to listen to you.

I think it's very admirable how involved these Devs are with the community. Rex posting in this thread earlier was really tight and I haven't experienced any other Devs like this team when it comes to that. The FIFA team are ghosts. Even when they ask for feedback they never respond to anything. There's no OS fifa community because nothing we say is being heard on this site or on the EA site or Reddit. Madden Devs care and they show that and it's really cool cuz they're certainly not obligated to.

If there was a "dev tweet" thread for FIFA it would literally be empty but Maddens is only a couple months old and it's like 35 pages long haha.

Very true. You won't see EA's Executive Mgmt providing any handles to public forums like Twitter to be ridiculed. That's what middle mgmt is for, Lol. But at the same time, you know that's how it is going into the job now. Rex has gained a certain level of 'celebrity' by being in this position. There's a pro vs con you have to analyze in any job and if being in the spotlight is not one of them (pros), then you can't take a position like that anymore.

I don't think that's true. Rex is making a choice to be so public. I work on ea UFC and the creative developer of that game rarely posts on twitter and isn't extremely active on forums. Some of the other devs do it because they appreciate the feedback AND because OS is very protective of devs that post here. People get banned quick here if they are disrespectful

Rex is one of the few creative directors that regularly interacts with gamers. FIFA doesn't. NBA 2k's creative director doesn't. Same goes for NHL.
