I'm not concerned at all. I've enjoyed playing the past few Maddens so this iteration shouldn't be any different. We'll definitely see some footage before release. You can always wait to buy before you see the game in action (especially if you go digital, it's not like the game is going anywhere). I don't know why they haven't shown much up to this point, but I'll rely on the opinions from guys like SimFBallCritic and such as comfort.

It will be bought but you know what might happen? Negative reviews, especially if reviewers do their work and realise that the over-hyped Longshot doesn't even include playing full games of NFL football. And if there's one thing that EA DO pay attention to, it's their metacritic score.
It is rare that I have found a review of a sports game that is worth the time it takes to read it.
But this post is a great example of what's wrong with sports gamers today. Too many salivate at the chance to rip new games that come out. Everybody posts about being better, but its clear that the angry gamers that wants t o rant still dominates forum discussions, which is really too bad.Comment

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
So, in the past at OS, people were ridiculed for jumping on the "Hype Train" in April with pictures of the "Tommy Train" arriving in town.
Now, people are ridiculing marketing for changing the business plan because "Tommy Train the Hype Train" isn't on the same schedule anymore.
Whatever........................lolComment

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy the game sight unseen. First off, there is no requirement that anyone make a purchase decision for day 1 of the game release. Second, if you have EA access then you will.have a chance to play the full version of the game before making a purchase decision and if you don't then wait until Access begins and come back here to OS and you can be sure that there will be an abundance videos and impressions to help you make an informed decision.
That's all a long way of saying that other than curiosity there is no need to see videos now. You will have all the information you need before you have a to make a decision.Comment

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
My original post was aimed more at the lack of evidence that they have the newbgame up and running smoothly on the new engine. I love FIFA but there were a crazy amount of bugs in the beta last year when they switched to frostbite. If it's their marketing campaign that's totally cool, I was more coming at this from the side of wondering if they're going to have a game filled with bugs because of the engine switch.Comment

Philly, if that is what you intended, the title of the thread is misleading, in my opinion and so is the point in the main body of the paragraph. The way I read the main point is you are frustrated with the lack of game play coverage up to this point.Last edited by roadman; 07-30-2017, 07:02 PM.Comment

I think they've been working at a few years already, plus, they can learn what FIFA did wrong.

Is it better to jump on the "Hype Train" in April and let it peter out by early July and wait for another 6 weeks before the game arrives?
1/2 dozen of one and 6 of the other?Comment

As someone that worked in marketing for a fortune 500 company for 5 years, you really can't imagine the layers of approvals there are for any piece of content.
Every little thing is picked apart and has to be approved.
I completely get frustration from a consumers perspective, but just understand there are likely reasons behind it like that vs. what happened with NBA Live several years ago.

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
I heard from an EA game changer that the real reason for the delay in showing gameplay is that they're still tightening up some issues stemming from the Frostbite engine. Take it for what it's worth but as long as they're working on polishing the game until last minute then I'm fine with them holding off. At the end of the day I just want a polished game most importantly. I feel like Madden 17 was not as polished as 16 mainly because of the inconsistency in player physics. They added ball physics in 17 but player physics took a hit especially before & after a play with players randomly walking right through the QB when breaking the huddle, players walking through other players bodies on the field when getting up from tackles/pile ups, limbs fusing together, etc...All of this was cleaned up in 16 so it was really disappointing to see 17 take a step back in this area. I really hope this stuff is fixed for 18!Comment
