Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?

I'm actually good with the offscreen vids and the little bit from EA I've seen but what helps me be good with that are the blogs. Wow.

I'm not sure I've ever been this level of excited for Madden because of what's being added to what's already been done. GAMEPLAY FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS are HUGE to me, and, yes, I LOVE visual and "the little things" type of improvements as well but as I used to harp on back in the day, football game play IS the foundation of a great football video game.

As we all know, EA was constantly coming up with gimmicks and nonsense that would hide and deflect from issues in the game but they've finally learned that uprooting bad code and fixing/improving game play is where it's at.

Rex and Co are putting in that work!!! Madden has evolved into the football video game I yearned for as time went on, and I started football "video gaming" as a kid on my Colecovision (Yes, I am "old") but no fb game got me the way the first Madden did on Genesis.

The glory days of fb gaming are now, imo. Love it!!

I completely agree with you as well. Although I do agree with folks who would like to see a good bit more done, and I also agree Madden isn't where it could be, or even should be, I still am really looking forward to Madden 18 and I don't think they're hiding anything. I think they're just choosing to not release a bunch of videos to build the hype and from the looks of things it's got people talking.

What is it they say, no publicity is bad publicity? Madden videos will be here soon and the only difference is people won't have weeks to go through them with a fine tooth comb and pick them apart slide by slide before the game is out. Honestly, maybe that is the point in not releasing a lot of videos earlier on.

Similar to the old days before the internet.
Can't understand why they need people to go down there and capture video to then process it and publish it for them, along with all their hoopla and commentary. Just some regular gameplay videos would be fine.

I'm still trying to figure out what game developers waited til the last minute to show it's game footage.

The game will be out the week after next. The week after next. Let that sink in and marinate with no game footage.

              That's bonkers.
It's clearly a change in their marketing strategy. They obviously feel they will get more hype by holding content until a couple weeks out from release date instead of releasing it months in advance. They may feel that this gives them more momentum heading into release day than building the hype and have it level out or drop right before release. I am sure they have done the research to give them this strategy, whether that be wrong or right. I just don't get the posture from some that their decision to buy or not hinges on if they see game play 2 months out from release or 2 weeks out from release.

I completely agree and this speaks to them doing various things that come across to a layman as unnecessary. It's safe to say the capture event is all about the Youtube/Youtubers/Subs quid pro quo marketing campaign, which is whatever but again, seemingly unnecessary, the game being the only fully licensed football game, coupled with MUT seems to guarantee profitability. I remember awhile back some claim that most of Madden's budget went to marketing and a recent post from an OSer presumably in the know about EA consistently wasting resources, which this stuff seems to fall in line with.

On another note, It's funny you have some ITT saying what difference does it make when they release video, on a forum/message board discussing Madden. Common sense says it's because people want to discuss it, lol. It's not always about some real world impact, like trying to decide if to buy, pointing out bugs/glitches to devs or whatever, sometimes, most of the time with posters like myself, it just about the discussion. I'm surprised at how often that seems to get lost around discussion of Madden and taken completely out of context. It makes perfect sense in Madden discussion to discuss/question the lack of footage or anything else for that matter.

Seems like something similar went on last year, which then, like now I say, it's one thing to say whenever footage is released doesn't matter to you but it's a whole other thing when trying to force that on others or trying to stifle and/or demean discussing it.

Nothing is real clear and that's unfortunate.

I just think two weeks til Early access and no real footage is unusual in the video game World .

I dont know why there is even pushback on this subject with ( give or take) 360+ hours until launch.

Wait, is M18 gonna still do the EA Access early release this year? I thought you could only get it with the GOAT edition.

If I'm not mistaken, Early access gives out 10 hours and Goat is unlimited.

This is simply not true. The game was made available to the public to play at EA Play.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

If they waited until 2 days before release to show video you would still have time to determine if you wanted to buy it on release. 2 months before or 2 days before if it's the same gameplay videos it makes no difference.

Ok, so a select few have seen the game but they can't talk about it and they can't show videos of it. Can't tell me that's not sketchy.
