Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
What your referring to are those closed door sessions which happen every year. What I'm saying is the game was made available to the public. Anyone who wanted to attend EA Play could have showed up, played the game and spoke about their experiences. Plenty of people have including OS own Millennium. There are plenty of impressions from EA Play out there. They just were not allowed to record which is nothing new. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Gameplay videos are currently scheduled to go out late next week, from community influencers. I promise they will be worth the wait.
Apologies to those of you who disagree with this strategy, but the team decided to try and different approach this year. We want first impressions to come from the community. Hence EA Play and why the gameplay videos were done this way.
I can assure you there is nothing wrong with the game that we are "hiding". The game came out great this year and we are excited to share it with you as soon as possible.
As always we appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you all on the field this August.
This is definitely not good news, but hey I guess it's something.Comment

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
This is the problem, to be honest. Why should EA drop a bunch of videos to gamers they know will spend the next two weeks trashing the game. I know these overly enthusiastic fans think they are helping, but they really aren't.
It would be one thing if these early videos lead to good discussion, but too many use them to fill threads among many forums with negative posts. And it never has anything to do with how good or bad the video really is. You can predict the threads before even seeing the videos. It's just an excuse to bash the game.
At least by releasing the videos later, and closer when Early Access comes out, there can at least be reasonable discussion bye those playing the game to counter what is often a bunch BS that comes from the videos. When releasing early, it gives the bashers free reign for weeks to trash the game before anyone that actually likes the game can play it and realize things aren't so bad.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
It's telling to me that anyone would defend the lack of footage as a good idea to avoid bashing, which is basically conceding that even they think it would warrant criticism. If the game is up to standard, then showing footage exposes bashing and unwarranted criticism. As far as trying to avoid criticism without hands on impressions to counter it, that's just absurd because that goes both ways, meaning hands on impressions also negates defenses of valid criticism like "you have to feel it" or "you can't judge X until you've played".
If I believed Madden was a good product, I couldn't care less what others stated about it, especially if it was unwarranted bashing and certainly wouldn't want to be denied footage because of what critics might say. On the other hand if I was insecure to the point where my hype and anticipation of a video game hinged on ignoring flaws that I'm concerned others would point out, I could see early footage being an issue but that would be a personal problem.Comment

With the track record of Madden I really don't know how anyone can give them the benefit of the doubt on this.
I take this to be a very bad sign.

How many people are actually defending this as a good idea, really? I want to say one, maybe two posts. I realize framing it that way is easier to argue against though, so do your thing. Most people seem to have just accepted that for better or worse, this is Madden's marketing strategy this year and are going about their lives until footage releases.
And your big 'gotcha' moment of "conceding that even they think it would warrant criticism" kind of falls flat when nobody is really saying that Madden doesn't warrant criticism either. Not sure where you were going with that one.

Secondly, nah I wasn't going for some gotcha moment or whatever, if you didn't get what I was trying to say in that post or if I didn't explain it well enough, no biggie, like you stated, we'll go on about our lives until footage is released.Comment

We know you work hard and keep it 100. In the end if the gameplay is as good as game changers say .Then it was all worth the wait . PS get that Deuce Douglass Info in 19 and signature moves lol .
Thanks big dawg

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
I don't think that will happen this year, at least not in terms of the sidelines that we saw in the leaked videos. Everything looked much the same, zombie characters staring straight ahead rather than following the action. FIFA is doing stuff both on the field and off that ideally would find its way to Madden but who knows.Last edited by RogerDodger; 08-02-2017, 04:14 AM.Comment

We'll see if it makes "sense" by whether they copy the same approach next year. My guess is they won't and will revert back to a normal marketing strategy for 2019.Comment

Rex and company are getting hammered on twitter. The idea of not showing any gameplay or talking about franchise mode, the two most important things until a week before the game is playable is beyond ridiculous. Seriously who does that? How is that a good marketing plan.... whatever.Comment
