Why does it matter if they get hammered on twitter?
If the game comes out and is amazing will people care about the lack of info pre-release?

I think in the end this game is going to look and play very similar to other Maddens. Maybe they don't want to let on that the new engine isn't really that much of a game changer.

I think we already know CFM won't be amazing. The gameplay could end up being so but I don't want to just play "Play Now" games for the next 12 months.Comment

LOL, does anyone think that regardless of EA's approach that Rex and other devs will NOT get hammered on Twitter? They will always get hammered on Twitter.
The only difference now is they are getting hammered for lack of gameplay videos whereas otherwise it'd be about people ripping every video minutiae apart..
And I've not seen anyone really defend this, in regards to liking it, just some of us understand why they are trying something different is all.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Someone spending 30 minutes describing how blocking is improved can't replace 3 minutes of video that allows a person to see it in action.Comment

No one said that it can but people don't need to make stuff up to make their point. People have been talking about the EA play builds for months.

Sorry. After your response I went back and reread the quote you replied to. I misunderstood what you were saying.
You're right. They are free to talk about it and give their impressions. I personally won't put much weight into what they saw they saw until I can see it as well.
In the end it doesn't matter to me. I'll see gameplay way before I make a purchase decision.Comment

The one thing I don't get is why people take such umbrage with those that want to see gameplay. Who cares? I know I don't. If someone wants to see M19 gameplay in February, it doesn't affect me at all and I couldn't really care less about their reasoning behind it. It's not like every person that wants to see gameplay is just a ***** laying in the weeds waiting for their chance to bash Madden.
As for EA, I get it as well. It doesn't matter whether they release the videos today, tomorrow, or June, the reaction is going to be exactly the same. There's going to be people that love it, hate it, critique it, etc. The only difference is going to be those voices are going to be a lot louder than they've ever been with it all falling so close to release. EA has their reasoning behind why they did it and that's all that really matters but whether the decision is a good or bad one is entirely open for debate but will also become irrelevant and forgotten basically once the game drops until next year around this time when we know how things turned out.Comment

Re: Only 2 1/2 Weeks to EA Access and No Gameplay... Concerned?
There seems to be general agreement that whenever they release footage doesn't matter much but I think many of us may have overlooked the impact a later release like this might have for the Youtubers. In Rex's post he states, " We want first impressions to come from the community. Hence EA Play and why the gameplay videos were done this way.". EA Tib in general and more specifically marketing, likely feel the Youtubers have a positive impact on building hype and anticipation for Madden, so it makes sense that the closer they start that "campaign" to actual release, the better, not to mention with so little footage out there at this point, Youtubers with footage will be like an oasis in the desert.
So if I look at from that perspective, marketing and whoever else doesn't seem so illogical for going with this approach. We know how EA Tib loves to point to their internal numbers and telemetry, I wouldn't be surprised if their Youtubers views saw a huge uptick due to this possible strategy because usually by this time the verdict is in for most gamers on what to expect but this year the jury is still out by virtue of not having seen enough.
That said, I still feel like if Madden was a better replication of NFL football across the board, (I'm staring you down CFM), then marketing stunts like these wouldn't be necessary and the earlier we were shown how much NFL was in the game the more anticipation there'd be to get our hands on it.Comment

What I'm tired of is the notion that something is wrong with the game because of no game play vids. Also people are acting very entitled like EA owes them game play vids at this point.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

What I do think though, is with this Madden, marketing might feel like there isn't much to show off. I'm not saying the devs feel this way, but marketing always seems to need in your face features to show off, which this Madden doesn't seem to have. Which is why they might be taking this approach.
Usually I don't buy the "you have to play it, or feel it to know the difference", but if this was ever the case, it might be with this Madden.....Last edited by SageInfinite; 08-02-2017, 10:38 AM.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

I don't mind the people who want to see game play. If I was asked would I rather see game play early or later...I'd want it earlier.

People whom have preordered M18 blindly are entitled.
I usually defend EA, but this situation is indefensible.Comment
